“Great attention to the details”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

A great place to stay on the West coast of the Big Island! Erin and Ken were gracious hosts. We really appreciated the attention to detail; the warm cookies waiting for us on arrival, the cozy room, amazing breakfasts and supportive suggestions for what to see and do. Fantastic views and serene location, you won't regret choosing Luana.

My partner and I stayed with Ken and Erin for just over a week. It was the perfect place to escape with a long overdue vacation.
From the very beginning (i.e making reservations), the warmth was obvious. And just kept coming, like the home made delicious cookies upon arrival. The morning breakfast were always exceptional, some highlights include home made granola, Ken's biscuits and Erin's scones.
The view from every part of the Inn is amazing, only improving with the sunset.
Ken and Erin also are a wealth of knowledge they readily share.
Only regret was not staying longer.
I could go on, but I'll stop with I highly recommend! Can't wait to go back...

My husband and I spent several nights at Ken and Erin's B&B this February. They are in a wonderful location, very near to excellent snorkeling and hiking, easy access to beaches further south, the Place of Refuge...The B&B is very clean, private, extremely quiet especially at night, quite comfortable. The breakfasts were wonderful and we loved having our coffee on the deck scanning for whales in the ocean down below. Beautiful sunsets too. Ken and Erin are very hospitable and kind, very generous with their time and have a really lovely family. We highly recommend this location if you prefer to put a little distance between yourselves and the more touristy hub-bub of Kona (as we do), but it is still close enough to easily drive there for activities.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Luana Inn this past month. The location is outstanding, the breakfasts are excellent, and the time that we spent there was just great.
We stayed in the Moana room which was private and opens on to the common room. It is a very nice and most comfortable room. The other two rooms on this floor are right off the pool and would be perfect for two couples traveling together.
The view from the pool area is incredible and we spent a lot of time there relaxing - we often joined the other guests for a glass of wine as we watched the spectacular sun sets.
Ken and Erin are wonderful hosts - they are knowledgeable about the area and have many suggestions for things to do and places to visit. They are both excellent cooks and the breakfasts are a highlight of the stay - health and delicious.
We hope to stay at this excellent B+B again when we return to the Big Island!

If you like burger bars, noisy tourists and overpriced food then go somewhere else. This inn sits on the side of a hill overlooking the bay of the City of Refuge about 20 mins drive south of Kailua. The view is phenomenal and the bay perfect for snorkelling. It is amongst the most tranquil locations we have ever stayed at and would highly recommend. Hosts Ken and Erin are very welcoming and prepare the most delicious breakfasts you will encounter. The rooms are spacious clean and very well equipped. We had our own BBQ one night looking over the ocean. Perfection.

If you like hillside beauty, a view of the setting sun each night, warm hospitality and delicious, healthy (but hearty) homemade breakfasts, this is the perfect spot. Erin and Ken are gracious, warm and kind. Their Inn is a very special place and manages to mold itself to each guest's needs. The rooms are lovely and well maintained. The pool and hot tub are a bonus in such a small Inn. We stayed a week, and hope to return for an even longer visit. The location is perfect for exploring all corners of the Island but also has very special beaches nearby with great snorkeling and swimming. Just sitting on the lanai (patio) with a glass of wine each evening was a special treat.

Erin and Ken work hard to provide a well run Bed and Breakfast. The rooms are clean and well equipped. They are generous with their time in providing helpful information on sites and restaurants. We enjoyed Ken's freshly baked bread and Erin's lemon scones! Breakfasts always included fresh fruits and were delicious. Thank Erin and Ken!
