“Wonderful - beautiful - special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2009

If you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful vacation rental, this is the place to stay.

We spent 13 nights in Kona, with a beautiful view of Kealakekua Bay and the Kona coast and 3 nights in Waimea with a beautiful view of the mountains/ocean and Mauna Kea. Both vacation rentals are lovely. They are spacious, comfortable, clean and have beautiful views. The hosts are also special.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the host, Vivianne. She immediately made us feel welcomed. She is warm and caring and professional.
You can enjoy your breakfast (lunch-dinner) outside and listen to the birds chirping away while you enjoy the beautiful views and the peace and serenity.

Both locations are good, we certainly hope to return to the Big Island, and our biggest problem would be to decide which location to choose, because Waimea and Kona both offer many beautiful and interesting things to see and do.

We had a wonderful time at Belle Vue, and would recommend this vacation rental to friends.

We stayed at Belle Vue Kona for 5 nights celebrating new year's eve in close by Kona.
The b&b is neatly located overlooking the bay and a tropic garden. Our room was nice and well equipped with a little kitchenette and a big fridge. We prepared our breakfast and dinner most of the time by ourselves since close by is a very good supermarket with all kinds of fresh veggies, meat and fish/seafood. The view is extraordinary, to the beach a little less than a 15 minute drive by car, the Volcanoe Park approx 2,5 hrs awy, the airport approx 1h. The host Viviane and Ali are very charming people. We love to return some time for sure.

Belle Vue has the most wonderful views over the coast around 1500 feet below. It has a fabulous veranda, framed by flowers, where you can have breakfast and watch the colourful Hawaiian birds. Inside, the space is mostly open plan. The bed is comfortable. There is a large and noisy fridge in the kitchen area, which we unplugged at night. We were provided with a fresh papaya and home made muffins for breakfast on arrival, and there was plenty of coffee. The owner is a long-time resident (from France), and is frendly and helpful. The drive down to the property is pretty steep. We had one half of the house, we could hear radio/TV from the couple next door (hence the less than 5 stars). Otherwise a lovely and peaceful place to stay within easy reach of Kealakekua Bay and other good spots by the sea.

First of all, I would like to set the context for the review. You rent an apartment for self-service, and the house with the apartment is located in Captain Cook, which is about 30 minutes south of Kailua-Kona on Big Island, Hawaii. We were very pleased with the accommodation, where we mean a family with two kids (14 and 6 years of age respectively). The apartments are located with a magnificent view looking over the ocean. The owners of the property were very friendly and helpful. The apartment contained all the small things you need to manage on your own in an apartment without bringing all your own things from home. The location is very good with easy access to all you want to see on Big Island. In summary, it was a great place to stay for a visit to Big Island. We are happy to recommend it to anyone.

  • Liked — Hospitaly and friendliness with a fantastic view over the ocean
  • Disliked — A little isolated and hence very few things within walking distance

My husband, three kids (aged 14-22) and I stayed in the Rose Garden Suite (with the extra room) for 5 nights. This was our favorite accommodation on the Big Island. We highly recommend it and can't wait to return. Some highlights

Location: Belle Vue Kona is a short drive from two of the best snorkeling locales on the Big Island –Kealakekua Bay and The Place of Refuge. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood, away from the sounds of traffic. It's a short uphill walk to the town of Captain Cook, where we picked up groceries, visited a great art shop (Art Farm), and attended the farmer’s market on Sunday. The property itself consists of 4 steep acres, exploding with colorful flowers. The owners have placed seating areas throughout the grounds from which we enjoyed the fabulous views of the South Kona coastline in complete solitude.

The Suite: The accommodations were spacious, clean, and contained everything we needed. We especially appreciated the provision of ice chests, sand mats, and a beach umbrella for our daily outings. The furnishings were not elegant or fancy, but they were very comfortable and inviting. In particular, the bed was incredibly comfortable. I should also mention that the shower was fantastic – a nice feature after a day of salt water and sun screen!

The Hospitality: The kitchen was generously stocked with fruit, coffee, milk, homemade muffins, cereal, bread, jams, and more everything we needed to whip up a quick breakfast or late night snack. Viviane was a welcoming and gracious hostess, and gave us good tips (go to the Green Sand Beach!)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope that you will too!

This was an amazing gem tucked away in the quiet town of Captain Cook. It is far enough away from Kona to be a quiet get away, but not so far that you can't get to the waterfront action if you'd like.
Our hostess Vivianne was incredibly warm and inviting and we really felt at ease at once. We stayed in the Orchid Room and were blown away. The personal touches throughout the living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom made it feel like a home, not a hotel.Vivianne has freshly made muffins and plenty of choices for you in the fridge, but stays away, so you can set your own schedule.
The most amazing part of the B&B is the view! Belle Vue Kona is set upon a cliff overlooking two beautiful bays and the view stretches as far as you can see. Every night we were treated to georgous sunsets with the many varieties of local birds chirpping away merilly.
Could not have asked for a more private, beautiful place to spend our honeymoon!

BEAUTIFUL AND PEACEFUL

Vacation for us is seeking peaceful refuge. Merci, Viviane – we found it at Belle Vue!

Tranquil surroundings, beautiful view with abundant flowers, airy well kept rooms, and expert directions to the hurly-burly of downtown Kona, or some of the best beaches in the world.

We'll be back!
