“Beautiful place, wonderfull”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

My daughter and I spend two nights in the Dolphin room, very nice place, very good breakfast, the owner is very nice also. Just one thing, the mattress was too soft for me, I prefer an hard bed, it's my taste. For everything else, it was perfect. We will recommand for sure to others.
Just rent a jeep to go up because I scratch a bit the under of the car... HUM!!!

Greg, our host could not have been more accommodating. The rooms are all unique and totally comfy and well equipped with bath products and small mini fridge. Some have spectacular views of the Kona coast below. The evening sky is covered with millions of stats and tree frogs sing you to sleep. Breakfast is plentiful with Kona coffe and amazing homemade waffles with tropical fruit compote. ( bacon, too if you like) Greg was so knowledgeable and was able to show us a fantastic snorkel spot just next to the national park below his property. He even has snorkel gear and kayaks! A great choice to stay - even if the mile ride up the hill is bumpy.

After a week in Oahu, my husband and I decided to make a quick trip to the Big Island booked our room for 2 nights here. The drive from the airport is not bad, 20 min or so, and the directions your are provided with your reservation confirmation were right on, so you can't miss this place. The drive up is not bad at all, a little rocky with some turns, but with a little patience you'll be fine.

We were welcomed and were able to drop off our luggage in our room early, which I though was pleasant as check in was still hours away.

Breakfast was good - fresh fruit, award winning coffee, four different types of quiche and other items such as cereal and yogurt. We met 3 other couples and had interesting conversations with them all as you share a table with other guests for breakfast. Great way to meet people and it wasn't at all awkward.

Our room was comfy and clean. It was freshened up every day and turned down. Will definately stay here again when we return.

This is a truly lovely place. Breakfasts were creative, healthy and delicious! The setting is stunning, with cozy rooms and gorgeous public spaces. There are few areas off limits in this beautiful house. As to the road up to the house, just take it very slow. It is definitely worth it!!

If you're looking to chill, this is the place. The breakfast are great, it's fun to meet the other guests from all over, and you will be tempted not to leave. The views are killer, and when it rains, you can curl up on the lanai with a book.

It's not a hotel, and it doesn't have many of the amenities you'd expect from a resort. But if you're looking for something more casual, friendly, and relaxing, then you'll feel right at home here.

We were on a long trip, and it was great to be able to do our laundry, cook our own dinner, and take a breath and soak in Hawaii.

The location is not especially close to anything you're likely to have on your itinerary, but part of the Big Island is driving (be SURE to get an SUV/ Jeep for the drive up Old Tobacco Road). Don't miss Volcano National Park or the nightly stargazing at the visitor's center at Mauna Kea.

Overall, it's a clean, relaxing, well run bed & breakfast. You'll want to come back again and again.

Note: they provide an excellent guide book in each room, so you don't need to stress about buying one and having your whole trip planned before you arrive.

Room Tip: Honu room is the largest, and has it's own kitchen. Kohola/Halawai have the best views. The ot...

Yes, you start to wonder what you've got into driving up this goat track but upon arrival to paradise, it becomes irrelevant. Johannes was warm and welcoming, showed us our comfortable room and the extraordinary house with majestic views including a sunset never to be forgotten. Breakfast was delicious and very social with the other guests and us sitting at large table overlooking the coastline. Johannes was more than helpful with information and offerings of equipment to enhance our holiday. No, it's not an aloof, superficial and uncaring multi-chain hotel but a place not far from heaven :) that is comfortable, relaxing and a pleasure to stay at. Even the drive becomes easier. Would return again.......

Room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast tasty. GREAT coffee all day long. Easy to rent kayak from b&b. Good info provided. Great views although was voggy most of our stay. Hot tub was out of order, a bit of a disappointment. Road up to house is normally bumpy for the big island but barely navigable by mainland standards - use caution and get a high clearance vehicle if you can.
