“Pleasant meal all the way around”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

My husband and I ate there last Thursday after a long day of travel. We were seated right away without a reservation. We split a beet and baby kale salad to start. Beets were fresh and sweet, balancing the sharper kale well. There were also other vegis and goat cheese mixed in, very tasty. My husband had sausage lasagna, which he said was excellent. I had two appetizers, bean soup and crab cakes. The soup was piping hot and a little thinner than I expected, but still good. I wasn't sure about eating crab cakes this far west, but they were surprisingly fresh and well made (not overly breaded). We also split a side order of spaghetti squash, which might have been the star of the show. Service was friendly and fairly prompt. All in all a pleasant meal. Total cost of meal with beer $50 for two people...a good value for that much food.

“Another fine dinner at The Calico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

I have been eating at The Calico since the 80s. We even had our wedding rehearsal dinner there 4 years ago and just celebrated our anniversary there the other night. We had a lovely dinner. My pasta was yummy and my husband had a pizza. We love their bruschetta as well. It could be a meal all by itself. There are several yummy toppings to choose from, fresh pesto, aioli with a lot of garlic and the traditional tomatoes. During the summer kids can play on the lawn while their parents sit on the porch and watch. In the winter it's a local's hangout and a great place to apres ski.

“Great food, special visitor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

There were plenty of good reviews that led us to this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The food had a very fresh clean taste, with a vegetable garden on site its no wonder why. Our waitress, Charlotte was exceptionally pleasant and helpful as was everyone else. This prices were reasonable, so no detractors at all. We got lucky after driving through 2 national parks and never seeing a moose up close, one happens to walk right through the front lawn only a few feet from all of us on the deck! Not an everyday occurrence, but it was an extra treat for us and the staff.

“Delicious Italian with Affordable Wine List”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

We were very pleased with our dinner at Calico. The food was seasonal and fresh, they were very accommodating to special dietary needs (gluten-free pasta is available and the server quickly checked into whether dishes were truly vegetarian), and the wine list was ridiculously affordable ($18 for a bottle?!?). We particularly enjoyed the spinach salad, pork tenderloin, and veggie risotto.

“must be absentee owners”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Eat here every year, noticeably different, no visible management..server never checked back or would have learned chicken parmesan was dry and cheese on top concealed out like it Sat under the heat lamp. Server showed up at end of meal, told kitchen and reported back that " ...the cook took it off." Did not want a free meal, just a good meal or someone to check back so it could be fixed. Too many other good choices in Jackson to return there...
