Thermopolis was a planned stop on our way back home from Yellowstone. Based on traveler suggestions from this site, we picked the Best Western.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly front desk staff. Check in was fast and efficient, and we encountered friendly staff throughout the hotel.
We had booked a room with two double beds for one night. When we first entered the room, it seemed ok, with a few spots of dust on the carpet. It was a different story the next morning when searching for a toy our child misplaced. We looked under the bed and it was FILTHY. There was a lot of fuzz/dust, a plastic bag, and something which looked like a used piece of candy possibly from a previous guest. We looked under the other bed and it was filthy too.
This was mentioned to the front desk person when checking out and she said that the house keeping staff would be notified. Should you decide to stay at this property, hopefully the staff will have cleaned under the beds by then.
The tile around the tub in the bathroom, was falling off the wall and a spider crawled up from behind there. The grout was blackened with what looked like mold and the fixtures around the tub were black in some areas, which did not look too appealing.
One of the outlets (the one by the work table) was loose off the wall and could pose an electrical hazard or danger, especially to a small child. We forgot to mention this to the person at the front desk when checking out, so hopefully the hotel staff gets it fixed.
The curtains in the room had some stains as well.
It was quiet in the rooms which was nice. The room was spacious, with ample windows, and the furniture was in good condition.
Breakfast included pre- made frozen omelets (or omelettes), pre- made frozen pancakes, yogurt, juice, and milk (in carafes, not a refrigerated machine), apples, oranges, muffins, oatmeal, etc.
The pool was not in service at the time of our stay.
Location was good since the hotel was easy to find and close to the hot springs and the Visitor Center. It was a short drive from the eating establishments, gas stations, etc.
This hotel was definitely not worth the price this time around, but with a thorough cleaning and a few updates, things could be better.
