Nice hotel, well located for Devil's Tower

Booked this after checking TripAdvisor. New hotel, clean with friendly welcome. We arrived at about 3 pm had the indoor swimming pool to ourselves for half an hour and then went to Devil's Tower. Nearly decided that we had seen enough of the Tower from a distance but luckily went into the national park and I walked around the Tower while my wife chatted to a Ranger (they really do wear the same hats as in Yogi Bear!). Hotel is not near restaurants (as review had noted) and there did not seem to be much in Sundance but we found a shop/restaurant about a mile from Devil's Tower which opened late and had good food, a good welcome and gifts and t-shirts far better than the average we had seen in the Black Hills area.

Although there is nothing much to see in Sundance, except for the Sundance kid, this was the perfect place to stop on the road to our Devils Tower.

The hotel is good indicated. The rooms are large and very clean. The bathroom was well equipped and very clean as well. The staff at the desk was very friendly. There is an indoor pool. This place needs no further comment, Very good price/quality.

Only downside is there is nothing much around, and the only place where we could eat was a pizza in the local gas station.

We were pleasantly pleased by this hotel. The room was a great price and the hotel is pet friendly, which were two of the main reasons that we decided to stay at this hotel.
It was incredibly convenient being that it located directly off of I-90. It's not more then a few minute drive to downtown Sundance, which has a couple shops and a handful of places to eat. We'd recommend trying Aro Restaurant. They make a surprisingly great pizza.
The hotel is about a half an hour drive from Devil's Tower, which is quite a phenomenal sight. Take the time to check it out. You may be lucky enough to see some great wildlife along the way, and when you first enter Devil's Tower National Park you drive through the "town" where the ever-so-adorable prairie dogs live.
The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast and the breakfast area is a very good size. The choices are minimal (cereal, pastries, bagels, coffee and juice) but it's enough to start your day with.
We would definitely recommend staying here. We'd absolutely stay again if we ever find ourselves back in the area.

There isn't much choice in Sundance, and you could probably do worse than pick this motel. It is at the end of town, but only a short distance back to a slim selection of restaurants. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The desk clerks were helpful and, on request, happy to give my caffeine-addicted husband plenty of extra coffee.

Breakfast is pretty standard, but the breakfast room is pleasant, and there are plenty of tables for all but the most crowded of days. There is an enclosed pool off the lobby that would be great for kids to let off steam after a long day. Probably not too adult-friendly though.

This is in the middle of nowhere, absolutely nothing to do, but it is a good stopping point on the way to the Devil's Tower or Deadwood.

Usually I would expect better of a #1 ranked hotel on Trip Advisor, but when when you consider location, it really is as expected. This hotel is a bit dated and tired looking. They make a good effort to try and keep it clean and comfortable, but...
The in room coffee maker did not work, and it was a very cheesey one cup making off-brand with some disposeable plastic filter tray thing, so again, what would you expect.
There were dead bugs in the overhead light cover in the bathroom. Dead, but still, housekeeping should have noticed and cleaned them out before giving the room out. I notified the front desk and they said they would get it on the maintenance list right away.
Don't make plans for dinner in Sundance! There is only one choice. The front desk directed us to a place called Aro. Not someplace I was anxcious to eat at. We went next door to the hotel and got a fresh, hot Digerno pizza in 10 minutes at the gas station. Not gourmet food, but it was hot and yummy!
If you are traveling to Devils Tower, as we were, this is an OK place to stay one night. There really isn't alot of choices nearby. However, if you have a little time to travel, go just down the road a bit to Spearfish. We passed more choices there.
