“One of the best hamburgers!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. It was late so my sister and I decided just to share a hamburger and sweet potato fries. The waitress (very good) split the order so we each had our own plates. Can not explain why, but this is one of the best hamburgers we have ever eaten. The fries were excellent too. It was not a cheap hamburger but worth the price. My sister talked about this hamburger for the next few days.

“A gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

In town for one night only, we spied Frackelton's while driving down the main drag and saw two women sitting in the window drinking white wine out of large, well-shaped wine glasses that said this place knows how to serve wine. Combined with the "fine food" in their name, we intuited that this was the oasis we hope for but so rarely find in small towns.

And indeed, it was all that.

The menu is thoughtfully composed of dishes that borrow from several disparate cuisines but which are detailed in a contemporary, sophisticated way that blends them seamlessly. There were no outliers. Our meal exemplifies this well: a masterfully seasoned beet salad included fine lettuces one does not usually encounter so far out on the range. The garnishes of small toasted almonds and blue cheese was spot-on. For our mains, my husband ordered grilled flat-iron steak with a tex-mex risotto sauced with chile Colorado--it was divine. And I ordered veal piccata with the request that it be served on pasta instead of with potatoes. They complied, and the result, with vermicelli cooked daringly al dente (the way I like it, but rarely find in restaurants), was perfection as was the tangy sauce and the veal itself.

The menu cleverly covers the bases for those who prefer to all-out dine, as we do, and those just wanting a simpler, more casual experience, like the four guys at the table near us whose preferences were hamburgers (looked outstanding) and beer. At another table, I saw a bowl of beef stew that was one of that night's soup specials, that looked worth coming back for.

The plates that arrived at our table showed a lot of care, too. Rather than a bunch of line cooks just tossing plates directly to waitstaff, the night we were there (a Wednesday) the chef stood at the counter expediting, which is restaurant language for coordinating the firing of each order so that each person in each party receives their food identically hot as well as personally approving that each plate was complete and represented his vision of the dish.

This is big city stuff, people of Sheridan, and you should be appreciative beyond belief that people with the skill to cook and commitment to do it this well have chosen to live and work in your beautiful little town.

Service was good, though some refinement on getting wine to the table before the food would be useful (our server seemed slightly surprised that we expected this), and prices were fair and perfectly on par for the quality of food served and variety of menu options available.

If there were a Frackeltons in my town (I live in a much larger town in Washington state, but have nothing this good), I'd dine there often.

Kudos!

“Excellent fare, atmosphere and service”

We loved the food, service was excellent and the menu selection was excellent. We happened in and were beyond impressed. Salmon was great and the deserts were wonderful I would return again in a heartbeat.

“Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

We called in having seen previous reviews, and were not disappointed. Apart from the server not getting the order right (a burger without cheese came with cheese), the food was lovely and the choice of craft beers excellent.

“Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

Hi priced for what you get. Presentation was poor. Ordered a flank steak. All that was on the huge plate was the steak and a small scoop of potatoes, no garnish or nothing. For the size of food a smaller plate would have made it not look so cheap. Taste was flavorless. Hostess was rude. Wanted a booth, but she snipped and said those are for reservations so she sat us at a high table. Both my husband and I complained and she didn't offer to move us. Worst restaurant in town.
