The staff at the desk was fairly friendly -- not really springing to your aid, but not surly. The manager, with whom we checked in, was stiff and formal, and sort of robotic. The room was clean, and smelled OK. The bathroom had a faint urine smell, but not too obnoxious. The tub took forever to drain, and by the time you were through with a shower you were ankle-deep in water.
There was a big pile of phone books in the second-floor hallway that stayed there for the two days we were there. Evidently they were putting in the new phone books and just piled the old ones in an overflowing box in the hallway.
The cleaning staff was very accommodating and helpful when we asked for extra towels, and they respected our "don't disturb" doorknob hanger (we wanted to sleep late) instead of banging on the door and yelling "housekeeping," as some motel staff do. They didn't start vacuuming until about 10:00, which was also a blessing for late sleepers.
They skimped on the breakfast -- no sweet rolls or bagels, and rather inferior "delicious" apples with little taste. No wafflemaker, although there were toaster waffles. Had two dry cereals and some instant oatmeal packets available. The breakfast room setup was a little odd -- all two-person tables had one chair with its back to the TV, but if they'd put the tables at an angle, two people could sit at adjacent sides of the table and watch it.
People at the desk were unable to find or unable to access extra chocolate or coffee packets for the room coffeemakers, and when I asked about the Super 8 travel mugs, nobody seemed to know where they were or how much they were, even though there was a little display on the counter advertising their "refill at any Super 8" service. I'd wanted to buy one because my faithful coffee mug hd finally given up the ghost. I got a mug at the Walgreens across the street -- jeez -- "I could have had a Super 8," to paraphrase a popular ad.
WiFi worked well. TV reception was good. Beds were comfortable, although they had "rubber' pillows, which was OK, since we always bring our own, and the rubber pillow is the rule in most motels.
Anyway, the Rock Springs Super 8 was about average. Desk staff was a little "uninvolved" with the guests, but not unfriendly. I guess I'd sty there again, since they have decent rates.
Bring your own pillow.
