“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

We stayed in the Mt Randolph cabin next to the office area over the July 4th weekend. Other reviews complained about the noise from the highway, we were never there during the day due to visiting both National Parks. I'm sure the highway is quite busy during the day. After 8 or 9pm the traffic on the road became non-existent. It's good base to visit both National Parks- Yellowstone and Grand Teton. The cabin could use a ceiling fan or at least bring a small fan to move the air at night. There are all kinds of wildlife in the area, in fact we saw two grizzlies on the highway towardsTogwotee pass which is only a few miles East of Hatchet Resort. Food and service at the resort was good. The bartender multi-tasks but does an excellent job and provides good conversation. If you are traveling with a pet like we were the resort is pet friendly. There wasn't an ice machine but they had bags of ice that you could purchase. Overall I thought the stay was good and both parks are awesome.

Stayed here for two nights. Booked at last minute so assigned to probably the tiniest room in the place (room 3). This one is smaller than other rooms in the motel section and lacks the front window the other rooms have. It is more of a pie shape and was very tight for us (and my husband and I are not large people). No in-room coffee pot, no microwave or mini fridge, and for the price we paid we would have expected those items you get in a run-of-the-mill motel. (These missing items were, I suppose, motivation for guests to use the restaurants on the premises.) We were charged a fee (granted a small fee) for Internet usage, and I later saw a review where Internet was free for another guest; it didn't help matters that the Internet only worked intermittently in this remote area. On the plus side, we had a very pleasant chat with one of the housekeepers (we do not have her name, sorry), who was both friendly and helpful. And when I got ice (you have to fetch it from the kitchen of the restaurant), the chef was very nice despite his preferring that the ice be moved to a more central location.
Note: If you want to stay in Moran, there are not many options for lodging; picking another point of entry to the Tetons or Yellowstone, you would have more choices.

Room Tip: Avoid room 3; it is too small.

This is a motel. The cabins were nicely updated and clean, but the noise made it difficult to get a good night's rest. Right after entering the unit for the first time (#11), I noticed that there was a little "shed" almost directly behind our rear window. It appeared to be a utility room where laundry is done. There was quite a loud noise coming from the building so I walked up to the office and asked what was making the noise. He said it was probably the hot water heater. I was told it would likely cylce off and on throughout the day and be on every time water was turned on in a unit. We were staying there during a warm spell, and we wanted the windows open so I asked the cleark if he could provide a fan to cover up the noise and cool off the room. (There was also no fan in the bathroom so any heat generated by the shower took a while to dissipate.) He said they didn't have any fans. Between that noise cycling all night long, the over stuffed pillows, and the 4-wheeler that someone started up at 11:15p right behind our unit and returned to it's spot at midnight, we didn't get a lot of sleep. I'm not sure if there was free WI-FI--they never gave us a password. For the price we paid, I would have expected better service.

This place is staffed by teenagers or students needing some job over the summer. Either way, they are poorly trained. We paid 3$ for the wifi, which ended up being slow and choppy. Most of the time I was not even able to connect. As I mentioned this upon checking out the guy shrugged and said: "Yeah, we know about that." So they keep on charging guests for wi-fi that doesn't work? After that he did not even say "thank you for staying with us" or wish us a good day. In general the staff here doesn't really now what good customer service is, let alone what it takes to make guests feel welcome. They didn't smile or make eye contact with us when we walked past them during our stay. The waitress at the Whetstone Bar added a 18% gratuity on our dinner tab, although we were only two people. Her loss, we would have tipped 20%. But the bad customer service is just the tip of our experience at this place. The whole resort is ridden with mosquitoes, even in our cabin! I got bitten while carrying our luggage to the cabin and while brushing my teeth. This is the first time in my life that I applied mosquito repellent before going to bed. Our cabin (we stayed at number 2) was dark and cramped, there was barely space for two opened suitcases on the floor. Worst of all: This place isn't even cheap. Never staying here again.

This motel is on a road used by large trucks from time to time (i.e. can be noisy). It is remote in the sense that the nearest alternative restaurant is many miles away. You are trapped in that regard. Our cabin was nice and spacious, but had a porch that looked out on the gas pumps (motel has its own gas station) about 25 yards away. There was no refrigerator in the room and there is no ice machine. They direct you to the back of the restaurant, where an cook will fill a bag of ice for you. This is not a terrible hotel and the restaurant was not terrible, but having driven through the national park just prior, it was a real disappointment. If you can do so, pay the extra cost (if any) for one of the national park accommodations. You'll have a nice view, various restaurant options and you'll be in the park with gorgeous views, rather than at a lonely and sometimes noisy roadside motel.

Well furnished cabin with a huge bathroom close to the Grand Tetons. It felt a little far from Yellowstone, but that may be because we were tired, hungry, and it was late and therefore completely deserted and dark outside. A minor complaint is that the management didn't leave the password for the internet, so I knocked on a neighbor's door and got it that way. Our cabin was much more expensive than what we paid just outside the northeastern entrance to Yellowstone in Cooke City, but still much cheaper than anything comparable within the parks.

Room Tip: We stayed in cabin 28 -- separate bedroom, couch with a trundle bed, mini fridge, and a huge bathroo...

Reserved two nights, stayed one and they refused to refund anything for the second night, we didn't use. No breakfast included-the prices at the restaurants we out of sight!
9.50 for two eggs. And the waitress from the whetstone added her own 10.00 tip.
Not a good value for the money and poor customer service
