I thoroughly researched the area before we (my brother, nephew and me) went. Moran provided a perfect "jumping off: point for visits to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and back to Jackson. The area was beautiful, the ranch serene, and the accommodations spotless.
The staff helped us plan a horseback trip with Yellowstone Outfitters that turned out great.
We appreciated the full kitchen as we were interested in finding wildlife which meant very early mornings out, and late evenings coming in. We were able to do all our own meals after a stop in Jackson for supplies on the way up, and didn't waste any time or $$ on park food, lines, etc.
As a result we viewed wolves in the Lamar Valley, big horn sheep in the Roosevelt area, elk, deer, bison, black bear, antelope and Mountain Goat by the Northeast Entrance - which are not indigenous (sp) to the area - or so a Ranger explained.
Great trip, superb accommodations. Highly recommended. I would go again in a MINUTE.
