“If you like Bed Bugs, you'll ove the Best Western in Laramie-the problem may have been the owner was in India.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2009

stayed in the BW-laramie, WY. on July 21st. about 11 PM. I will say the interior was nice, looked nice, was clean--seemingly!-but at 3 AM my wife woke with a start and said "Oh my God! there is a bug crawling on me! and then we proceeded to look further and found another one. It looked like a tick but softer and a little bigger, or a watermelon seed kind of. So, never having had experience with bed bugs we got our laptop and lo and behold, WE HAD BED BUGS!!!

Called the night duty guy and he said, not possible and I said, well wait til I get down to give you these. I put them in a zip lock bag, and then we proceeded to shower, get dressed and packed up to leave. We got to the desk and said here are the bugs, which he looked and said, hmmmmm. (not a lot more to say) and we asked him to have the manager call us later in the day.

We did not hear from the manager so i called him in the afternoon and he said, "The owner is in India for a month, and I will give you half off--BECAUSE YOU STAYED HALF THE NIGHT!! That is a classic, yes we only stayed half the night because we were awakened by BED BUGS!! Needless to say, that did not sit too well and so I told him we were not paying for the night and I disputed the charge with American Express--RULE #!-ALWAYS PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD, YOU HAVE A CHANCE IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS. We do not know what the resolution with Am Ex at this time is.

It gets better! We felt pretty certain that with Mikes attitude and with the owner being in INDIA! it would not get addressed and would be rented out the next night like nothing had happened. So, we called the health dept for Laramie and after getting bounced from a few people we talked with one lady who said she called the hotel and told them she would be doing an inspection and that she asked about the room and the guy told her they had closed the room down because WE SMOKED IN IT! Hardy har har, my wife has asthma and we both do not and never have smoked.

Better yet--Then during the dispute stage with Am Ex their reply was that they did not have bed bugs and the room has STAYED OPEN--NEVER SHUT DOWN and everyone loved the room with no problems.

So if anyone wants to see what bedbugs look like, yes i did take pics of them with my cell phone camera I will be happy to let you know. and sadly even Best Westerns are becoming like Super 8's-. So, now we stay at Holiday Inns exclusively!

Several issues with the stay there.

The reservation was made at the senior rate. The front desk clerk refused to honor the rate that the reservation was made at, because "In Cheyenne this same room will cost you $199". Not sure why that had an impact on the room rate in Laramie.

The room was only ok, pretty dirty. The coffee machine has no carafe, and when inquiring on that, was told to hold the styrafoam cup underneath to catch the coffee. Sounds like a good way to get burned.

No pets were allowed but a hotel guest did have a dog there.

Won't be staying there again.

We were on day 11 of a 14 day vacation and were starting to wind down. We toured the territorial prison but the kids were wanting to go back to the motel and not see another blessed thing. So we went back and vegged out. The place was roomy and comfy and we didn't move the rest of the night. Good clean place at an unbelievable good price.

My boyfriend, my 3 year old son and myself stayed here for 1 night while being delayed by the Hwy 80 closure. We were able to get a non-smoking 1st floor room that we needed. They had an indoor swimming pool that was not freezing but not super warm either - just average. The hot tub was nice and not too hot.
The breakfast in the morning was simple with cereal, hard boiled eggs, bread, juice, ect. There was ample parking.

Went with my family for my brother in law graduation from wyotech, fist they could not find my reservation after a while it was found. The swimming pool was not working due te a heater malfunction only the spa was working,It was very dirty and full of mold.
The day of the check out i went up to the manager to check out and he started screaming a me for no reason telling me that noboday had told me there was a sleeper sofa in the room,in which i told him that the day i reserved the room a guy named Travis told me that the room had a pull out sofa. This man was full of crap screaming at me so early i went on and told him he had no reason to scream at me and he would no stop i asked him i wanted the numer to his manager and he said no that he was the only manager. We left the hotel with a very bad exprienced, people there are so rude and do not respect you!!!
If anybody know the nuimber to the hotel supervisor or someone beyond him i would apreciate the number that screaming was uncalled for!!!

We stayed one night at this hotel, mid-September. It's located on a motorway junction, east of Laramie, about a mile out of town. Open country lies between, so you have no sense you're staying in Laramie - you could be anywhere on the Wyoming plains. So, it's more focussed on the motorway than the town, standing together with other hotels and gas stations, all similarly new. Traffic, including huge trucks, mills about.

The hotel is brand new and is in immaculate condition. The room we had was large and well-equipped, and spotlessly clean. Curiously, though, the washbasin would not hold water as there was no plug - separate, built-in, or otherwise - we had to keep the taps running.

The only slight unease we had about this hotel was the check-in. We arrived without a reservation, and were told there was only one room left, a suite (the most expensive room) at $145. Hmm...Thursday afternoon, 3pm, 67 room-hotel, only one room left. Several minutes of discussion ensued, during which gradually-cheaper rooms were 'found' until, finally, we were offered a standard room at $92 - a 'cancellation'. Hmm, again.

This is an excellent hotel if you're happy with the motorway location, out-of-town. If, though, when you arrive, there happens to be only one, expensive, room left, you might care to stand your ground...
