“spacious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

Arrived late and our check-in envelope was in a box outside the office. Room was clean and spacious.
Nothing to rave about. Right across from the reserve. Less than 30 mins to Gran Teton, NP. Less than 5 minutes to downtown Jackson. Closest to the airport.

Online, the pictures of the inn made it look much nicer. Pros: close to all the restaurants & shops, close to Grand Teton park, kitchenette with fridge, microwave, cooktop stove, sink to wash dishes, toaster, coffee maker, & dining set with 4 chairs. Linens looked clean. Cons: very dated in every way & it could use some sprucing up. The AC unit in our room was loud. Very small bathroom (the part with toilet & shower are in a very small closed off room, while the sink part is outside of it). I think the town of Jackson is very expensive, so this hotel was more affordable, but still, paying $415 for 2 nights hurt for such a worn out looking place. It is decently spacious, though, besides the bathroom.

The hotel was nice. Nothing exceptionally good or bad. The room was pretty small--not really an issue as it was just me and my wife, however both my wife and I immediately commented on how close the bed was to the large, front window (we had to make some adjustments to the blinds to make sure no one could see in). We went during mid-June, the busy and expensive season. This hotel was one of the lower priced rooms ($159 plus tax) that looked like a nice, clean hotel. The bed was comfortable. The shower was a bit small (they could really benefit from a curved shower rod). The bathroom fans were very loud--which I only mention because when the room beside us would use there fan it was quite loud in our room. The only significant complaint, though, was that the air conditioner did not work in the room. We noticed it too late in the evening to ask the front desk for help. When we checked out, they said their was likely a switch we needed to adjust to make it work. Either they were wrong and it was just simply not functioning, or they should make it a habit to either explain that at check-in or have some sign on the device pointing to the switch (because it was not obvious as I had checked and switched the dial from heat to cool--I stay at hotels quite often and I made the adjustments that typically need to be made to turn on the A/C). Nights get pretty cool, so it wasn't horribly warm, but it certainly would have been more comfortable with A/C (if our room was on the balcony I could have easily opened a window and been more than comfortable without A/C).

Room Tip: If I go back, I think I would be sure to pick an upstairs room to enjoy the balcony, be able to open...

We stayed here for one night during our visit to Grand teton National park. This was definetely an economic place to stay near Grand teton and very close to all Grand Teton attractions. Refrigerator, microwave in room. Free coffee at the front office. Recently updated facility and is qeiet and comfortable. I would definetely stay here longer in next visit.

Loved staying here. Places you close to Jackson for restaurants, shopping, gasoline, and just south of the Grand Tetons National Park. Very clean, spacious interior for an inn. Rustic décor. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Appreciated having a room refrigerator. Setting was serene, with elk refuge across street for overwintering herds, and Tetons towering nearby. Also saw Yellowstone from this location over 2 days (a bit of driving, but can't beat the views)! Next door is a convenience store and gas station. Wished we could have stayed longer. And bonus...animals have plenty of young with them this time of year!

Room Tip: We stayed on lower level and parked right outside our door. So convenient, and view in a.m. is so se...

We've stayed in Jackson Hole several times, but this was our first visit to the Elk Refuge. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Our room was on the upper level with easy access on the road leading behind the hotel, which provided at-the-door access to our room. We had 2 queen beds, a dining table, stovetop, microwave, coffee pot, mini-fridge, and plenty of cookware. It was a nice addition to the room, allowing us to prepare breakfast each morning. They do offer coffee, tea, hot cocoa, mini donuts and freshly made muffins in the office in the morning. Our grown daughter joined us for this leg of our trip and there was plenty of room for all of us. I enjoyed the porch which overlooked the Elk Refuge. Perfect for early morning or evening, sitting and enjoying the view with a beverage. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom provided a hot shower with good water pressure. The room was kept meticulously clean each day. Although the hotel in not in downtown, you are only minutes from the Town Square. The WiFi worked great. The Elk Refuge is a wonderful place to recharge and relax when visiting Jackson Hole and the National Parks. We highly recommend the Elk Refuge and look forward to our next visit to the area and another stay at the Elk Refuge!

This stay was the highlight of our overnights. We stayed two nights here. Our front door/patio overlooked the Elk Refuge. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was minimal consisting of doughnuts and muffins and coffee. We had a kitchenette with microwave and stove. A refrigerator was a welcome sight. The bed was very comfortable and clean. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: The upper level is much higher in cost but the lower level has the same view. It is near the highway...
