“Excellent meal in a charming location in downtown Jackson”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

The Blue Lion has been a go-to place in Jackson for decades. The restaurant is in a charming old cottage, one street of the town square (which means quieter, not pushed around by summer crowds.) The food is very, very good. Classic European with nice sauces, excellent meat choices (the lamb is fabulous), interesting choice of pastas. The game is supposed to be very good but I've not had it. The atmosphere is very pleasant (Wyoming doesn't do "elegant") and warm and welcoming. This is a very nice meal at a restaurant that locals patronize, not food for the tourist trade. There are lots of local growers in the nearby Idaho towns but not much "local" food. Perhaps that is a seasonal thing and I was too early to get local produce. I'll try again. It is certainly worth yet another visit. Reservations are a must.

“Great food,tiny place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

The actual restaurant is very small (holds 30 or less) however we went during the off season so it was full but we had no wait. The food is a bit pricey ($20-40 per entree) but very much worth it. I plan on coming back here when I return to Jackson.

“Shockingly Bad”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

It is hard to believe the reviews I have read of this place. It is situated in a cute old historic house. But the attitude, from the host to the server etc is awful. Server was not helpful at all in terms of the menu/wine/food selections. Food was average at best. Reminded me of old school restaurant with the bread/salad/veggies as a side, all of which were reminiscent of diner food. Food was bland, uninspired and just bad. Both my dinner companion and I just stared at each other and laughed at multiple times throughout the meal at how bad everything was. Somebody brought our entrees out while we were eating our salads and then stood there and stared while we tried to finish our salads. Then we didn't have silverware to eat our entrees with. When our server didn't offer any, I asked another server for some. His response was to turn to the next table and give us their knives. Well, I could have done that. It says very clearly on the menu that no split checks are allowed, so we didn't even ask. There was no follow up on the meal at all. If you are simply looking for dinner and your expectation is hot food, it is okay, but this is in no way a "nice" restaurant.

“Nice place for dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. The food was good. Salad and dessert were the best for me. The entree was good but not over the top. There was a wonderful guitarist and the overall experience was a good one. Make a reservation if you want to eat downstairs.
