“Nice one night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

We only stayed one night but it was nice, clean and comfortable. It is at quiet location and seems separate from the busy parts of town, but we were there during the shoulder season so that might be different depending on the season.

Just charming, very comfortable room. Loved that the sink was big and in the same room as the toilet and tub. Really quite up-to-date, though the stopper arrangement in the tub needs to be fixed. Close to town, but off the out of the hustle and bustle. Reasonable prices for the area.

This was a real great little discovery. We'd been all over Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone and came to Jackson for two nights prior to flying home. The room we got was cozy and clean with all the right touches of the northwest. The neighborhood was quiet and pleasant. We walked to the Farmer's market on Thursday night to catch some of the local flavor. The walk to town was easy. And the two women who ran the place were so helpful and kind. I would return in a heartbeat!

Nice lodging on the south end of Jackson. Right at the base of Snow King but a very easy walk to town. Walked into town in the morning while the girls got ready. 5 minutes or less walking distance. You can get some coffee or a little snack and be back before the rest of the group is getting ready. They also have coffee ready every morning in the office for your convenience if you just want to sit in their nice little courtyard on the swing, a chair, or the picnic table. Get your local info. here as all the folks that we were in contact with were friendly and helpful. The owner is very nice and has some great stories about the area. You can walk to the restraunts at night easily and return back for a soak in the hot tub next to the office. Beds comfortable, rooms clean, helpful staff, reasonable price ( especially for the Jackson area ). What more could you ask for ? Would choose again if I come back to the area. BUDGET TIP. Get your groceries, prepared food items, snacks, and other supplies at the local Albertson's. Good prices, well-stocked, good selection and just a short drive from the very nice BUCKRAIL LODGE. Thank you to all at the Buckrail for the nice stay your provided us.

We just completed a 5 night stay at the Buckrail Lodge and we were quite pleased. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival. As mentioned in other TA reviews, it is located in a nice quiet residential area very close to the base of Snow King Mountain. Our room was not huge but quite adequate with the bathroom being quite modern. They provided plenty of nice thick, absorbent towels as well. The beds were relatively comfortable and of adequate size and I'm 6'5". The grounds were very well kept and the flowers all around were beautiful, especially the red poppies by the office. There were a few things that bothered us a bit; the housekeeper did not seem to ever clean the bathroom sink and the room could have used an electrical outlet by the desk for using laptops, charging batteries, etc. The carpeting was fairly worn but well-vacuumed. These are all minor issues and I would certainly recommend the Buckrail to anyone traveling to Jackson.

Since TA doesn't allow half points, i decided to buck (pun intended) the trend and give the Buckrail Lodge a 3. But keep in mind, i think it deserves a 3.5........ Part of me wants to give it a 4, and part wants to give a 3.......

Why it should get a 4:

Quiet location but close enough to downtown for an easy walk or short drive.... Nice views of Snow King, and if you have kids, it's only 1/2 block from a great public park and playground. There's nice open space on the property for relaxing or having a picnic. The staff is friendly. The rustic room had a fridge and microwave---great, especially traveling with kids. Also, the room appeared to be recently remodeled with new plumbing fixtures, windows, AC, flat screened TV, ceiling fan etc.....

Why it should get a 3:

Honestly, we expected more. While our double room was rustic and cozy, the Buckrail is basically your classic mom and pop inline motel (long, one story building with 1 row of rooms--see photo).... The room was a bit small and as i recall, the beds were full sized, not queens..... The coffee/tea etc in the lobby was nice, but for $116/nite+tax, a small continental breakfast table would be a nice touch... Nevertheless, The Buckrail Lodge is definitely a cut above your typical mom and pop motel because of the open space and remodeling mentioned above, and the rustic nature of the building....

All in all, i would recommend the Buckrail Lodge. It seems to be one of the more reasonably priced places in town.

Room Tip: Rooms are orientated north to south. The room entrance faces north to the parking lot and open spac...

After a terrible previous night at Yellowstone Old Faithfull Lodge Cabins this hotel/lodge is how it should be done. The rooms are spacious and clean, the small communial area is very cosy with tea and coffee permanently available and the lovely lady receptionist was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. You can easily walk into the centre of Jackson or get the bus from a nearby stop. It is a pity we had only planned one night here as we could easily have stayed longer. It was one of our favourite stays on a 6 week trip around the north west of USA and only cost $6 more than at the Old Faithfull Lodge cabins.
