We (3 people) stayed in a cabin with a queen bed and sleeper sofa over the Christmas holidays. The cabin is small. It was a bit challenging to find places to store luggage, and to walk around with the sofa bed open. But the location is great on the west end of the downtown area, so we could walk to the new cultural center for a play, to Village Inn and Wendy's. We didn't walk to Town Square, but probably could have in about 10-15 minutes. Some ski shuttle buses come right through the complex; other town buses are available on the main street (Broadway) just one block away.
If you're like me and awake early after flying from east coast, you can go to the office and read/relax in the chairs, have a small continental breakfast , use the computer to check emails, while your family sleeps. But it doesn't open until 7 am. A new office area is being built for the spring, but I don't know if it will have 24 hour access. The small warm pool and hottub is in an enclosed area, but the area didn't feel heated and you have to go outside to reach the bathroom/changing area (not a problem in summer, but it's cold in the winter!).
The small kitchen area in the cabin has a sink, 2 burner stove, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, and refrigerator, but no oven. We were challenged to cook with only two flat pans, no pots, but kept forgetting to ask if we could get any pots. Office staff were friendly and responsive to other requests, getting our sink and phone fixed when not working on arrival, providing extra blankets, providing an AARP discount when it hadn't been provided at checkin.
Price more affordable than many hotels in Jackson, and quiet/privacy/ability to cook was worth it. Be sure to ask for pots if you need them for cooking, and book a bigger cabin if you prefer more space.
