January is a great time to visit Jackson if you don't like crowds! We stayed at the Rustic Inn for five nights just after the holidays and really enjoyed our first visit. We found a great rate for a king bed Cabin (seeing as the Creek is frozen this time of year, we didn't feel the need to be creekside). The room was large, comfortable and clean. Part of the reason we booked the room was for the spa bathroom with a heated floor (much desired when it's 5 degrees outside). However, when we informed the front desk that ours was broken, we were told they had shut off all of the bathroom floors (which seems odd unless there was a problem with them). Disappointing, but not life altering as we took to wearing slippers while in the bathroom. One last item about the room regarding the heater. It definitely cranked out the heat but was loud enough to drown out the television. If you are a light sleeper, just an FYI. Add the free airport shuttle service and a complimentary breakfast buffet, and you definitely get your money's worth. The staff were very helpful from setting up trips into Yellowstone, to picking us up when needed. Location-wise they are a quick ten minute walk to the square which even on the coldest day is easy and being right across the street from the Jackson Visitor Center was a plus.

We stayed in a superior double queen. It had a refrigerator and microwave, coffee maker and safe, but no fireplace. We were very pleased with the room.

We were picked up at the airport with two other couples and needed to wait about twenty minutes for their plane to arrive. I was ok with the wait, because I failed to call the hotel 24 hours before my flight to secure my ride to the hotel. Hence, I felt lucky to have a ride at all.

When we arrived at the hotel, check in went very smoothly. I asked for a creekside room and gave the front desk person a $10 tip, but no luck. She did upgrade me from a standard room to superior, so it was not a total waste.
The rooms at the hotel are awesome. They are all cabins, which was quite nice because you do not need to worry about the TV bothering your neighbors and you do not hear them either. The bathrooms get cold (no floor heaters), so we put down towels. They have separate heaters in the bathroom on timers. We cranked these up each morning.
Some other reviews mentioned the close proximity to the main road into Jackson Hole. During the winter there was not much traffic so we did not notice, but I can see certain rooms being a problem when there is more traffic especially if you are a light sleeper. There are three rooms in the front corner of the property that may be of particular concern. They are all very close to the main road on one side and backed-up to the Chevron station on the back side. I pitty the folks in those rooms during the summer! Unfortunately I did not get the room numbers of those rooms, but I am guessing they are around 304, 305, 306 based on our room (they were a few doors down from us).

Breakfast was perfect! Two types of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, breads, fruit, hash browns, coffee/ tea and juices. The room was only about half full at 8:30am. I imagine summer is twice as busy.

There is a town shuttle service provided by the hotel (Mike was wonderful) and there are free in town local buses, so getting around is easy . We were in Jackson to go skiing, so the free Teton Village shuttle was great. It left at 8:30 and 9:30. There is also a city bus that goes to Teton Village for $3 a person each way.
Be sure to get to the shuttles (airport & Teton Village) early they leave promptly on time (maybe even early).

Tip for skiers: Snow King has a 2 hour ticket if you arrive in the afternoon want to warm-up. Jackson hole mountain resort has an Apre Vous mountain lift ticket that is half the cost of the all-mountain ticket. Apre Vous is good for intermediate skiers. It would have been a great first day option for our family if I would have known before I bought our all-mountain tickets and it would have saved a ton of money.

I would recommend the Rustic to anyone visiting Jackson Hole. Next time I visit Jackson, I will certainly return too.

We were a little nervous from some of the reviews and unsure about going to the area at that time of year, but decided to book anyway with the Rustic Inn for a quick fall trip to Jackson Hole in early October 2012. We found a great rate online and were pleased to be upgraded upon our arrival. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms cute and well kept, and the location great within walking distance to downtown Jackson, across the street from the Visitor's Center, and the same road leading to the parks and out of town. The breakfast was very handy and quite good. We had a great time overall and would highly recommend the Rustic Inn for couples or families. Our only regret was missing the fall leaf changes (a little too late) and not seeing a moose!

As far as visiting Jackson Hole, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone in early October, we had a great time. There isn't as much open (fewer activities like rafting or the playhouse), we were a little too early for some of the animal migrations, but we still had plenty to do, the weather was nice (we hiked without jackets), and we even got some great deals in town (like buy one get one free meals at one local steakhouse!). I think you'll like this area any time of year!

We Stayed 8 nights at the Rustic Inn. They have a VERY highly professional, trained concierges staff. Tucker helped us set up all our trips, dinner's etc, He was EXCELLENT!! You really do not need to rent a car in the winter as it's an easy walk to the square and downtown shops (even in cold!!) They have a full time car that will drop you off anywhere in town and pick you up. As well as shuttle service to and from the airport. We had a king bed Cabin (room 112) with creek view was just lovely. The room was clean and in great shape. Bed was a little soft but let them know. Only thing we wished we'd had in this particular room was a fireplace!! The bathroom floors have a thermostat so you can have warm floors which is nice touch when it's darn cold outside. They offer a full breakfast each day which is the same but with a lot of variety. When you go to Jackson in winter there are so many other things to do other than ski. Dog Sled trip with Autumn into grand teton's a MUST!! Snowmobile trip into Old Faithful was amazing. It was our first time in Jackson and everyone is very friendly and helpful on where to go and what to see. We checked out other possible places to stay if we go back, but we didn't find anything we liked better than Rustic Inn!! We will definitely stay at Rustic Inn when in Jackson.
