Cache Creek/Game Creek are a trail network east and south of the town of Jackson, WY. It is a haven for locals who want to walk their dogs, hike, Mountain bike, Nordic ski, hunting, horseback riding, and more. In the winter, wildlife is easily viewed from the lower trails, as they descend from the mountains to easier winter range. Recently, a cougar family has been seen in the area of the Cache Creek trail head.
All of this is National Forest, and there are some rules about its use, particularly concerning your dogs (leash in winter, and pick up after them). Since dogs can not be taken on trails in the National Parks, this is a great area to get a workout with your dog and see some terrific scenery.
The two trail-heads are separated by about 7 miles of highway and city streets, so you if plan to hike from one end to the other, you may want to place a car at the destination trail-head for the end of the hike. If you are biking through the trails, there is a pathway along the highway for you to get back to the town of Jackson. Note that horses and people have the right of way.
