Management is clueless. Staff is doing the best they can under extreme conditions. Construction is WAY behind schedule. Stay anywhere else if possible, Next Summer they might have it together. The property has potential but it will take time to realize it.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

Dear William,

Thank you for the constructive feedback on your recent review of Snow King Hotel. We appreciate the time and understanding that you have taken to explain your recent experience.
Our team has worked diligently at attempting to manage the guest experience through the renovation process and we are all proud of how hard they have worked to meet the guest needs in a somewhat difficult renovation process. We are now complete with the majority of the renovation; our pool and restaurant are both now open. I certainly hope that you will consider us again in the future as the improvements on the hotel are fantastic. If I may be of further assistance, please contact me directly at craig.waterman@snowking.com

Great service, excellent location with walking distance to anything in town and obvious proximity to all Snow King mountain's trails, etc. The service was IMO the best part. When the construction is done, this place will be incredible. Check out some of the townhomes too if you don't necessarily want to stay in a hotel room when getting your JH experience. There are several unique spots, and they'll be happy to help you out in finding the best fit for you.

This hotel is in the middle of construction (Summer 2013) but overall it's a fine place to stay. The rooms are large but lack a bit of the amenities that would normally be at the resort. The pool and hot-tub were closed but they did offer for guests to go to another spot in town. Though it's not ideal, it was something they tried to do to make their guests have an option if they wanted. I personally like a mini fridge in the room and coffee maker but they didn't have either so that was a little unfortunate. It's just something I prefer when packing lunches for National Parks and long days adventuring is ideal than each day having to run to the store before venturing out. I don't however think the service was that bad. The staff was doing the best they could under the circumstances. There was large bus tours of older people that clearly expect everything to be where they want it, when they want it. Sure, sometimes coffee ran out but they'd shuttle you up to the upper lodge if you wanted... even though it was about a football field away to walk.
I would say that the location was nice for being able to do little hikes up the service road in the early morning and only about 10-15 min. walk into the Main Streets for the restaurants and shops. There is also a Village bus that runs right at the bottom of the parking lot of Snow King so that's an option as long as you're not staying out past 11pm (I think). Otherwise, there is cab service if you're not up for a short walk.
Personally it was fine for the amount that they were charging through construction. I think what a few people might be neglecting to say in their negative reviews is that they probably got a really screaming deal on their hotel rooms because they are in construction. It's not a 5 star by any means but I didn't see that they portrayed the resort as such. Oh and the beds were very comfortable!

If you enjoy the mess and noise of construction along with poor service the Snow King is the place for you. We however will never stay here again. Even though the construction will likely be completed by this fall/winter, this hotel is still dated, not that well kept and the service is marginal at best. I don't see that improving anytime soon.

Room Tip: The pool is under construction and not available at all, it is very small as well.

We arrived at the Snow King Resort in mid-June. Unbeknown to us, the hotel IS undergoing rennovation. The hotel was sold and is under new management. There is construction on most floors of the south wing (painting, drilling, saws, etc.). The restaurant is shut down, there is no room service, and non-existent laundry. They upgraded us to a king suite, but that still doesn't make up for the fact they didn't notify us that rennovations were occuring and that most of the basic services would be unavailable. They didn't even offer to comp us breakfast (which is $14.95 for a basic buffet). On a postive note, the room was nice and the staff was very friendly. Even the contruction workers are friendly.

Some friends we are travelling had a horrible experience with there room and were upgraded to a condo at Love Ridge and were given breakfast coupons.

My recommendation is you stay elsewhere or ask for an upgrade to Love Ridge.

Room Tip: Ask to be put at Love Ridge.

We arrived later than expected and were allocated the last remaining suite (no surprise here).
Although our view wasn't great, we spent very little time in the room except to sleep. The frig was cold, the room was warm, and the shower was hot. The ski lift was less than 100' from our door, but of course no snow in June. What's not to like?

We arrived at the Snow King early June 2013, unaware they had been under construction for renovated lobby since October 2012, the lobby still not open. Although roadway signage directed customers up hill to Grand View Lodge for registration, I witnessed many, many lost people who did not see those signs and walked into the side entrance of hotel with no direction from there. Signs should have been posted at every entrance to tell customers to sign in up at Grand View Lodge. Initial stages of opening of lobby started around June 6th, but satellite concierge office closed before lobby was even open. Coffee in hallway not refreshed unless asked, no water, pop, snacks, change, anything available to customers. Most had no idea what was going on. They also charged $15 per person for guests to eat buffet breakfast at Grand View! Shouldn't Snow King have provided that for free for all of the hassle they put their guests through? One saving grace were the employees who were so nice and really tried to accommodate and answer questions, but only had so much control. Poor management and planning, should have closed hotel during construction phase, probably would have finished much sooner! Rooms beautiful, except for view of construction trucks, mud, machines, etc, outside room. Snow King should reconsider staying open during construction next time!

Room Tip: Ask for view of ski mountain, versus back of lodge overlooking construction zone!
