“Good Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

I've been staying here for over 10 years and the quality has remained consistent. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, decor is a little dated but in very good shape. The front desk service has been good. This is a one story motel spread out over an acre or so,so everyone has parking in front of their rooms and a ground floor room. Work out room is on one of the buildings and is OK, nothing special. Grounds are well kept and the place is generally pretty quiet. This motel gets a lot of business travelers (I'm one) as well as vacationers. It is within a 10 minute walk of the historic downtown. The attached restaurant (Legal Tender) and bar are fairly good and not badly priced. They do honor government rates, which is not universal in Wyoming. It's a large enough motel that you can usually find a room here. Their free breakfast is pancakes, juice and coffee in the restaurant - so not much selection there.

We travel through Evanston often. We stay at this property. It seems to be in a time warp! Maybe the mid-60's. The rooms are large with all the amenities of a suite: including real glass glasses and heavy ceramic coffee cups in the room. The bathroom facilities seem to have been recently revitalized as well. The free breakfast gives you 2 freshly cooked pancakes, juice and coffee. One pancake is big enough for one. We always buy and split a side order of two eggs each and maybe add some bacon for a little more protein for the road. The price of the room is reasonable, so spending a little more on food and service is worth the cost.

All the rooms are on the ground floor which is good for us since we can carry all our stuff into the room easily. Since we were tired after a long drive in bad weather, the on-site restaurant was a bonus. And the food was good, too! Our room appeared to have been recently updated.

Stayed here for the first time. Usually stay at another motel/hotel about 1/2 mile away. This was about as nice as it gets in Evanston. Service was excellent, room was clean, spacious and well appointed. Parking just outside the door. Had our senior citizen dog (16 years old) with us and it work out perfect. A very nice area for dogs. The free breakfast was lacking...pancakes, juice and coffee. Would have preferred more choices for breakfast.

For the price and type of hotel you would expect a clean room, where at least the crumble and fat left from the prior guest would have been cleaned from the remote control to the night table and from the magazines. The included breakfast is a coffee and pancake! Or you can order and pay extra a la carte.

This is the best place to stay in Evanston, hands down. The semi- terraced layout of the the room buildings up the side of the hill reminds me of late 70s California architecture. Very hip. This hotel has been around for a while and the owners keep upgrading and improving the the rooms and the facilities. On top of that, it's a Best Western so you know you're going to get quality. Rooms are spacious and furnished with mordern appliances. Can you say fridge and microwave in EVERY room? If you're on a bike, or traveling cross-country, that's worth a stay all on its own.
This place has a first rate lounge, and top notch restaurant/steakhouse with a 1930s Mobster theme -very well done. The food and drinks are priced right and taste great.
I tried the Holiday Inn Express once in Evanston, and it is very nice - sterile, but nice. But I will ALWAYS come back to the Dunmar. This place has old school class and panache. You won't never be sorry staying here.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great!
