“Cody, Wy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

While in Cody, WY on my husbands Air Force Reunion we stayed at the Carter Mountain Motel. Really neat experience. Fran and Ken are the owners and couldn't be any nicer and accommodating. Quaint rooms, clean, and comfortable. Was impressed that along with the coffee maker were (real) coffee cups. We enjoyed our stay.

I stayed for one night when traveling between West Yellowstone and Buffalo Wy. The motel is clean and the owners are very friendly. They can assist you with a lot of information about the area.

I stayed in a room with a single bed. It was very comfortable and there was a recliner also beside the bed which was very nice also. The two things did take up a good bit of space in the room, but there was an area to put your suitcase on a stand after you come in the door. The room also had a coffee maker and small refrigerator. I can't remember if there was also a microwave. The bathroom was smaller in the single room. It was about normal for a small motel, but was clean and the water pressure was good.

The motel was located at the end of Cody that was on my route to Buffalo so it made it convenient. I didn't hear any noise, but I slept with the fan on the a/c unit running to avoid noises. The rooms are perpendicular to the highway so no big highway noise. There wasn't a breakfast, but they did recommend a place to get something to eat.

The motel was very good for the price paid for the night.

We came to Cody on our way west and were tired. Carter Mt Motel was convenient and the room looked good and the beds were comfortable. The woman who checked us in helped us locate a car wash because hatching bugs just east of town had made our windshield nearly opaque. I learned via the free wifi that I had to process a book order and get to the post office in the morning. I was able to use the motel's computer and printer to print an invoice and mailing label. And then I got directions to the post office.

We relaxed and went away impressed with the helpfulness of the front desk person -- and on my third trip to the office, I did notice the big white parrot. What a treat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the busy street during the summer.

We stopped without a reservation and took one of the last single queen rooms. We chose it for the two comfy rockers vs the stiff wicker settee. The rooms are small but very clean- #111 has a nice, upgraded bathroom. Love the real coffee cups and nice coffe maker. I noticed people went up on the second floor to watch the sunset- I'd stay up there next but it was really nice to be able to park by our door. It's on a main road near grocery stores but we didn't hear any street noise. All rooms are non-smoking. It was a reasonable room for the rate- Cody is expensive.

We were travelling over Labor Day weekend without reservations and had spent more time in Yellowstone than expected. Closest rooms were in Cody and the place we usually stay at was full up so we tried Carter Mountain. I have a new favorite place to stay in Cody. Our room was so sweet. It was small! But clean as a pin. The towels were thick and white as snow. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were good. Very clean. Coffee maker in the room, but bring your own hair dryer. This is so retro. Good value for the price. Will definately return!
