“Good value for location and price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014 via mobile

Friendly people. Ideal location for shopping, restaurants and major highways access. We had a great stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Room rate is very affordable for a high tourist area. There is ample parking. Ideal for anyone on motorcycles.

True, we are ideal for those on bikes with close access to the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway (the most scenic road in this part of the country). On the property we have an endless supply of rags and even a bike washing station! Giddy UP!

Three couples were road tripping through Cody- we choose the least expensive, highest TA rated motel listed. Least expensive did not mean inexpensive. Our rate was lower than other places in town, but the rates for all Cody motels are absurdly high. There are good elements here: Brenda is a good host and she is making the best of a tired old motor motel- a U shaped facility with individual outside doors and numbered parking for each unit. The rooms and bathrooms were small, but spotlessly clean. The beds were good with average linens. Towels were thin and small with average toiletries. Good in-room coffee, refer and flat-screen TV with lots of channels. All decor and furnishings are at best utilitarian. Less good was the complementary internet that was intermittent, when it was working at all. Brenda sent a follow up email of apology and indicated she would work to improve it. If you needed to use the room heater ( we did not) it was very noisy. The substantial rate does not include breakfast, newspaper or other amenities. One toilet ran constantly and there were other mysterious plumbing noises. This is a house that needs updating, but even if one invested it would still be a 40+ year old motor motel on a busy street away from the main town center. This office, like others we experienced on this trip, has limited hours so if you need someone early in the morning, sorry. There are many things to see and do in Cody and were we to return we would have to put more effort into finding a better value than all the motels in Cody were offering. The Budget Host was acceptable for one night, passing through.

PLEASE WHAT ROOM WERE YOU IN SO I CAN LOOK INTO THE ISSUE. Thank you for staying with us and for your compliments. We try to go over everything with you when you check in. Office hours are from 8AM-10PM. Our philosophy is to share the wealth with our fellow business owners, which is why we do not serve breakfast. There is a diner 1 block from us along with several other establishments that cater to the breakfast crowd.

To be improved :
Hooks in the bathroom for hanging towels to be reused.
Freshing up the carpets.
Fridge needs to be put a little higher in order to open the door easier.
Good :
Good beds, good TV channels, friendly staff, good coffee.
Rather expensive, but then it's CODY!

My wife and I stayed here for one night in June 2014 while traveling to Yellowstone. The motel probably dates to the 1950's, but has been refurbished and is clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Our room had only a shower - no tub.

Good place to stay for the weary traveler wanting a good night's sleep in a clean comfortable room.

The price was good. The room was clean and quite adequate for our needs. As brief as our stay was, we enjoyed our time there. The owner was friendly and helpful. It is obvious that the owner takes pride in the property and is making improvements.

Parking in front of your door, clean rooms, very friendly staff. Great location and easy to find.
I don't think there are amenities other than free wifi, but Cody has everything you would need right on Main Street (Sheridan).
If you are a traveler that spends a lot of time in your room and on the motel/hotel property, then you might prefer something with more amenities and more modern accommodations, but be prepared to spend a lot more. If however you are in Cody to explore the town and the surrounding canyons and Yellowstone and need a secure and clean place to put your things and sleep and shower... look no further.

The rooms were very clean and the owner was very friendly. The value was good compared to other local rates, but the building itself is old and in need of repair. Our first night, one of the windows would not close all the way and we were only given one room key. The hot water faucet in the bathroom would hardly turn off all the way without forcing it. There are absolutely no frills with this motel and parking is super tight. If you are just looking for a bed and a bathroom, it will do nicely. Off the beaten path of the main street, but still noisy with local traffic. Even with the understanding that the owners are going to upgrade and do repairs, I still could not revisit this location, especially since they pre-charged me before I even arrived.

Room Tip: Take a room towards the back because it will be quieter, but parking is tighter.

Yes, the building dates back to the 70's. John Wayne stayed here when he was the Grand Marshall of the 1976 4th of July parade (the mayor owned it at that time). How they fit cars back then in this lot baffles me too, but it's better than trucking across some huge parking lot 1/2 mile from your room. Extra keys are available on request. They are very expensive to replace, which is why we only give one on checkin. I'll have Mark check on the faucet. We don't know about these things unless you tell us.
