“Fabulous experience”

I stayed at the Cody on May 18, 19, 20 while attending a wedding. The wedding group had been given a special price for a block of rooms, which was very nice. The service was exceptional. I didn't feel like going out for dinner one night and asked if any restaurants delivered. I was told that they had numerous menus from various types of places in town and would be happy to go get it for me. I had never had a hotel do this. It was wonderful since I have some medical problems and had problems getting around. All the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. They are also one of the few pet-friendly places to stay in Cody.

We stayed on May, 28 and 29, 2012. This is a very nice hotel. Great reservation experience. We arrived a couple hours early and they had our room ready. Very nice king room. Very clean, well appointed... except the flat screen was about 30 inches or so... would rather have had, say, a 40 or so for the size of the bedroom. The bathroom was huge. Great walk in shower with lots of room, good height. Very clean. The breakfast was very good. Typical high end hotel free breakfast, if that is a "type." Joe, the man with the answers at the door was simply delightful. The hotel handiman, who seemed to have nothing to do because everything worked, delighted the kids by taking them outside to make 'smores'. This at a tourist hotel! The desk staff and cleaners were very personable and seemed to actually care that we were having a good vacation. Loved this hotel and highly recommend it. We typically stay at Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express, perhaps Americinn. The Cody was better than any Hampton or HIE we've stayed at in a number of years. The price was fair, very fair compared to the competition. STAY THERE IF YOU HAVE HE OPPORTUNITY. D. Neuhaus, Madison WI

On the outskirts of the town of Cody, Wyoming, after you have driven through the steep mountains from Yellowstone, you might drive right past the small hotel The Cody. The setting is not befitting the caliber of this hotel, for it's very VERY nice, and the city offered several wonderful tourist opportunities as well. The hotel appears to be new, and the king size bedroom on the 2nd floor was lovely, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, with thick towels and extra amenities. The linens were smartly fitted to the comfy bed, and the decor was "Western Chic." The included breakfast was more than a basic coffee and a roll, with fruit choices, several hot offerings, and a pleasant seating area. All the staff were helpful and friendly and gave us directions to restaurants and activities. HIGHLY recommended, in fact, make a point of stopping in Cody, Wyoming for a few days and be sure to book at The Cody!

Room Tip: Quiet nights all over the hotel.

We booked at THE CODY Hotel for 2 nights while we went to Yellowstone and the surrounding area. We could not have been more pleased. We have been staying at Fairmont Hotels so are used to the best. I can't say the hotel itself rivals a Fairmont, but I can say that the service is better than what we have had at any Fairmont. Kenny brings you a fresh bag of marshmallows while you are sitting around the outdoor firepit! They go out of their way to help decide where to shop, dine or sightsee. Every last person we dealt with was so great. They were not in your face helpful just friendly and nice helpful. The rooms were way better than expected and have nice little extras such as cough drops and heat packs. I was so impressed with the front desk clerks that I bought them a bottle of Baileys! There is NO reason to stay anywhere else when you are in Cody or anywhere near Cody. I will absolutely stay there again if I am within 100 miles of the place. Don't delay - book today.

Room Tip: IF you want the best rooms they are 325 and 225.

We almost missed the chance of staying at The Cody. On our travels we do our best to stay and eat at locally-owned and independent establishments.

We arrived in Cody on our way to Sheridan & Mt. Rushmore. We had a wonderful meal at Rocky Mountain MoJoe's and they suggested The Cody as a great place to stay in town.

My wife checked their website as we drove and saw they had double queen rooms available for $145/night. When I came inside to request that room I was rudely turned away by Travis Baggett. He had no intention of renting us a room at that price and was happy with our "tourist" dollars walking out the door. He suggested that I had entered my information incorrectly to get the $145/night price. Unacceptable in the hospitality industry.

After being turned away, in the hotel parking lot, we reserved the room for $145/night online. My wife and kids went inside to claim our reservation as I unloaded our car. Mr. Baggett greeted her kindly, that is until he saw me walk in. Mr. Baggett's attitude changed back to the put-out attitude he gave me.

When he typed in our confirmation he said he had no rooms at that price. We explained our reserving it from The Cody website, www.thecody.com (much of the navigation is in Flash and doesn't work on iPhone/iPad). He still "had no room" for us and I guess expected us to leave as he stood there and stared at us. He said something under his breath, had several exasperated sighs, and typed on his keyboard with force and explained they were over booked and he wasn't supposed to book a "house" room for us. Mr. Baggett even questioned my wife to see the website she made the reservation on as well as the confirmation email to make sure it was from The Cody. With obvious disdain for our reserving a room at the lower price Mr. Baggett reluctantly gave us a "house" room.

Joe, another employee was extremely nice to us. He asked if we had ever been to Cody, asked if we had eaten dinner yet and suggested several great spots. Then suggested breakfast dining for the morning (The Cody does have a breakfast). He also suggested several city attractions. Joe was great to us, especially after dealing with Mr. Baggett.

The room was okay, not the Luxury advertised. It was clean and had the usual amenities. The TV had some problems with reception, that could have been the weather. The hot water was not as hot as we like it. It was warm, but not hot, it must seem hotter in the colder temps of the area.

We decided to check the website to see if we got the room at $145 by freak chance and at 10pm they still had double queens at this price.

In the morning we opted for The Cody's breakfast. It was nice with fresh fruit, not just banana, apples & oranges. They offered cantaloupe & strawberries in addition to the other fruit. They had sausage, potatoes and an egg casserole in addition to the pastries, yogurt, cereal, waffles, juice & coffee.

The workout facilities were nice with free-weights, a bench, two treadmills, an elliptical and a bike. It was a little crowded to do any other exercises, but manageable if you really need to get a workout in.

We didn't give the pool a try. It looked nice with windows facing the North and West giving a nice view of the landscape. They also had a hot tub, nothing special about it, but nice to have on those long days in the car.

We have stayed at many hotels on our Destination Family Vacations and I can honestly tell you, we have never been treated so rudely as Travis Baggett treated us. The hotel is nice, right outside the Eastern entrance to Yellowstone and has some great attractions in Cody, but not worth the lack of professionalism we received. We suggest spending your hard earned dollars at a place that appreciates its clientele.

My family stayed at the Cody and will certainly stay again on our next visit. The staff was wonderful, especially Mr. Joe who you felt was part of your family by the first evening. The rooms were roomy and very clean. The kids loved the indoor pool as well as the outdoor fire pit. After a week of traveling through Yellowstone and staying at 4 different hotels, The Cody was our favorite!

Our family took a two week trip out west and this hotel was by far the best. It was beautifully decorated, very clean, and had very friendly and helpful staff. We could sit in a beautifully decorated lobby and watch our young teens swim in a great pool through a glass window. We had a private balcony with a view of the mountains and a garden with a water feature. At night there is an outdoor fire pit and smores. It was a big hit with the kids!
