We'd been to Cheyenne about 20 years ago before the old Union Pacific Depot had been restored and, obviously, before all the Depot Plaza had been built. We were excited to see both the exterior and interior renovations.
The exterior is marvelous. Really brought the old beauty back to her previous glory. However, we were disappointed with the interior as little is left of that old depot feel. I understand the reason for the museum and other fund-raising things that have been done. Without them, the Depot could not be maintained. However, a few more nods needed to made to what it was: a functioning UP station complete with marble floors and ticket windows. Having said that, it was still well worth the visit. Just don't expect to see a restored depot inside.
And the Plaza itself with the signature cowboy boots stationed at various points is great. Take a moment to really look at the Iron Horse statue too. It's amazing.
