We were staying in Denver for vacation and decided to drive the 90 miles north to experience a real Bison Ranch and of course to see WY. We stayed in Cabin number 1, which was very clean, but had a strong odor of....? Hey, it's a Bison Ranch, and we weren't paying to stay at the Ritz!
We went on a trail ride (horses were nice and slow, lol) and took a bus tour of the Bison. Neat experience.
The Senator's Restaurant had a very authentic Saloon feel, and we both enjoyed our meals (he had a Bison steak, Ribeye I think, and I had a Bison burger).
The people that live and work on the ranch were so very very nice, and very hospitable. If you're looking for a 4-star hotel, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for authentic mid-west feel, don't mind "roughing it" a little, then you and your family will love this place.
I'd go again. ;-)

Stayed in a cabin here for one night during Frontier Days. Competence of staff is decidedly mixed, but we loved our cabin (all of them overlook a meadow where the bison graze- great view!). Just 10 min to the rodeo- very convenient location. Good meal at their restaurant; friendly and experienced staff there. Don't go for the fishing; the "lake" is a very small pond. The kids loved the one-hour Bus tour of the ranch. RV Park at the ranch looks far less appealing than the cabins; the spaces are crowded together, no views, no trees, very old and worn-out play structure for the kids.

  • Liked — Cabin location
  • Disliked — Loud RV campers nearby and freeway noise

They need some better employees. They are very friendly but not real bright. Food was ok but very very slow. One waitress for the entire dinning room and she informed us there was only one cook also. Chicken coop was discusting, one big rooster had the little roosters bleeding. All the fences need mending. All the animal pens need a good cleaning. Flies of course all over. I was very discussed and will never go back unless they do some majoring cleaning and renovating. The train was just a big joke. The driver did feed the animals along the way so we could take pictures of the poor mangy looking things.

I took a group of 18 to the Terry Bison Ranch for dinner and ranch tour.
The meal was served to us, not buffet. We had prime rib steak, corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw and hot apple cobbler for dessert. Food was all good. Service was fast and friendly for a group of our size.
The atmosphere is authentic western and we were treated to a country music band during dinner. I think it was a special performance during Cheyenne Frontier Days.
This is a working ranch, very real. We rode the train through the various pastures and viewed their herd of camels (9) and bison. They have lots of horses and other farm animals.
Our guide,Faith, was great. She answered all our questions and gave us lots of information about raising bison and running the ranch.
Great time for families!

We arrived late and were unable to get our cabin key. We were in luck because the restaurant was still open and they did their best to contact the office but brought us the wrong key. Sue had to come down to get the right key . Cabin # 5 was very nic except for the fact of requesting two beds.BEWARE, the shower in cabin #5 can be a little trickey, almost dangerous. You have to step up and then down from the grouond to get into the shower. It does throw you off balance and there are no grab rails for security. Cabin #5 had one bed and one hide a sofa. We originally reserved a two night stay but after the sofa sleeper decided to close up on my gal friend and sleeping on the closed sofa was a
big sag hole in the middle , we decided to make it a one evening adventure. This might have worked out great for a family with a few small kids but for two mature women, it does get a little rough on the old bones. The campground was nicely kept and the view of the buffalo in the valley was awesome.IT JUST WAS NOT FOR US. and Dan , GM of the grounds, did not care one way or the other. The restaurant seemed to be quite nice for a rustic motiff dinner with above average prices. ALL IN ALL. I believe that it would be a GREAT place to go camping.

  • Liked — the buffalos in the valley
  • Disliked — the sleep accomodations. people eating sofa beds
