“No Problems with Oak Tree Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2011

We stayed June 2011. Reason we picked it was that it was not in downtown area backing onto railway lines.

Also, just across road from Mall with dining places in abundance.

Room was comfortable, did not experience any odd noises, and whewn we discovered hair dryer was not working, Manager had it replaced immediately.

Actually loved the Diner for breakfast, as it was just like those I visited in 60's

It reminds me of a rodeo bunkhouse with railway workers and truckers laying over at no charge to them (company foots the bill) so they are not big on getting service. You have to call for maid service whose office is located in a tin can diner 40 paces from the bunkhouse. That's where you book in and pay your bills.
If you need ice for the room you have to slide across ice to the dinner for a small bucket of ice since, the ice machine in the hotel has been "under repair" for six months.
If you need heat in your room, you have to move around (even while asleep) because the heater is wired to a motion sensor!!!!
Also, I've been here for a month and received only one comp breakfast coupon.
BRING A SLEEPING BAG AND A LARGE FOAM ICE CHEST.

For starters, you check in at a tin diner next door. The exterior motel doors say guest key required, but the doors remain unlocked all the time, so absolutely no security. WiiFi hangs from the hallway on an extention cord. Very run down. Not even a bedspread on the bed. Just a sheet, blanket and bed runner. Just felt unsafe and dirty. Best part about it was the free breakfast next door at the diner.

My husband and I had to stay in Cheyenne unexpectingly and we were told to book at the Oak Tree Inn; the shuttle picked us up from our broken down semi and took us back through town. We were directly across from the Mall and lots of resturants. The hotel came with breakfast each morning from a fantastic diner on the same premises. The rooms were clean and had all the ammenties we needed. There was a great exercise room and Cheyenne's walking trail was directly behind us. There was a Cheyenne public transporation bus stop less than a block away and for $1 we went downtown. The only thing I had trouble with this the Wifi in the rooms was weak, but they were attentive to the issue and were glad I mentioned it. Thanks for making our less than pleasing breakdown more comforting by a good stay.

The rooms are filthy and a powerful air freshener is used to mask the odors. The wireless internet works intermittently and is outdated and in dire need of an upgrade. The hotel also filters what internet content can be viewed which is censorship at it's finest...why should they be concerned with what I view in the privacy of my room?

Even though they have rooms reserved for the rail road people, the staff was very accomindating. I thought that we were getting a room with two full beds but the manager put us in a king room. Nice. The diner has an excellent breakfast selection and fast service.

I bid a rock bottom price for one night in Cheyenne on Priceline and was put at the Oak Tree Inn. The room was large and clean and it's in a nice neighborhood near shopping and restaurants. As a solo woman business traveler I felt very safe. They seem to do a lot of business with the Union Pacific RR housing their employees during layovers, they looked like a hard working bunch and never caused me any noise or problems. Very comfortable bed, lounge chair, micro, fridge, coffee maker, ironing board and iron, hair dryer. WiFi and breakfast are included. There's a big tv room if you want to socialize, and a fitness room too. The clock radio lulls you to sleep with nature sounds and wakes you with cathedral chimes. All for less than the Motel 6. What's not to love?
