If it weren't for the excellent service Nena, the front desk supervisor gave me and my fellow employees, I would be rating this as ZERO! Nena was relentless in making sure the rooms were cleaned, and let the maid-service management know of how unsatisfactory the condition of the rooms was. Nena also physically walked to rooms several times to ensure they were clean and unoccupied, as there was a huge mix-up in room assignments from the previous shift's mistakes.
As far as the accommodations themselves, unfortunately, many of the rooms of some of my fellow employees wasn't clean, had unusual smells, and was outdated. I can deal with rooms being outdated, but I do expect them to be clean. The on-site cafe that serves all kinds of food wasn't a good experience either. Unfortunately, when I ordered a fruit plate for breakfast, the strawberries served me were moldy. Several other fellow employees ordered hot dishes, like eggs and omelets, and their food wasn't very hot. Several of the redeeming factors of this location is just that; the location, as there is a river-walk trail to exercise, a miniature golf course, and easy access to the highway.
The purpose for my stay was to attend a transportation conference, so I stayed three nights and four days. The food the hotel provided for lunch in the conference rooms was plentiful, yet not the greatest. There were nice options, but the pasta felt a bit under-cooked, and some of the dishes had little particles left on them, which I know happens in my own home occasionally, but isn't something I want to see when I'm out to eat.
If I have another choice of staying somewhere in the future, even if the conference IS located at this hotel, I would choose another location. I regret to say this, as I did have positive learning experiences with the classes I took, but this wasn't because of the hotel. I just can't overlook the overall cleanliness of the rooms, even if they are outdated. They still need to be clean. I do want to give kudos to Nena, the front desk supervisor one more time, because she was patient and kind with me in resolving the cleanliness and room assignment mix-ups. She listened very carefully to all the problems that arose, and made sure to stay on, even after her shift had ended, to ensure we had all been accommodated properly.
