5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Don't miss this museum. The staff is always updating their displays so that every time you visit, you will see something different. The museums extensive collection allows rotation of exhibits for a unique and refreshing look at our western historical culture. The museum also boast an awesome gift shop.

“Start at the enormous wolf!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Went through this with a group of 45 kids. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, courteous, good at crowd control, and able to explain things in a way which kept the kids interested over the course of an hour. Over 20,000 exhibited items, masses of classical dioramas, pictures, interactive exhibits, audio and video displays, and a rattlesnake exhibit which rattles at you if you put your hand too near it (scared several kids, but taught them "Don't Touch" means, well, "Don't Touch!"). You could spend hours here and not read all the interesting items on the walls, the Bozeman Trail Wheel of Fate (really cool...unless you're one of the poor saps who died in interesting ways on the trail), and the numerous rotating exhibits. Local talent and famous artists provide artwork, and the exhibits change constantly. Fascinating place- highly recommend it.

“Intriguing”

Fantastic museum. A must see in Buffalo. Items arranged in a very appealing way - fascinating relics from the Battle of Big Horn and life in the Badlands. Well done.

“Very Interesting and Well Designed Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

This museum is very well put together. It highlights its origins in Jim Gatchell's pharmacy throughout but also highlights many important historical events in the area. The displays are very tasteful and carefully designed. It is an excellent museum and much larger than it looks. It took my husband and I over an hour to go through it and we could easily have spent more time. There is also a very nice store.

“Great little museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Very informative with a wide array of items on several topics.Located in very pretty downtown area. The museum attendants were friendly and well informed. I really enjoyed the Indian artifacts and the respect with which they were displayed. Just knowing that much of this museum was formed from one man's collection made it all the more fascinating.
