Description: Originally constructed in 1850, the Delton Academy, was a one room Baptist Boys School House. It continued as such until the time of the Civil War. In 1865, it became the Delton Methodist Church. In 1894, the church was expanded and the entry way and side room additions were built. What was originally the entrance was replaced with the G.A.R. stained glass window and the bell tower was added. During this period it was also used as the G.A.R. Hall. The Grand Army of the Republic was the Civil War version of the V.F.W. for the Union army. In 1868, General Order #11 of the G.A.R. called for May 30th to be designated as the day of memorial for Union veterans; originally called "Decoration Day", it later evolved into the U.S. national Memorial Day holiday. The G.A.R. was also active in pension legislation, establishing retirement homes for soldiers, and many other areas which concerned Union veterans. The influence of the G.A.R. led to the creation of the Old Soldiers' Homes of the late 19th century, which evolved into the current United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The back room, bathroom and kitchen addition was added sometime in the 1950's. In the 1970's, the Methodists built a new building across the lake and vacated this one. It was then purchased by a group of local residents and it became the Old Delton Academy Antique Mall. In January of 2000, the building was aquired by it's present owner and after an extensive remodel, became an internet cafe. In the spring of 2007, the building again underwent a revamping and became what it is today; the oldest public building in the southwest Wisconsin area and home of the Brat House Grill. Given it's age, the building still retains it's original wood floor, waitscotting and window frames. It's remarkable what great shape the building is in after it's extenvise and varied history.

“Awesome”

This place had the best brats, fries, chips and prices for our dinner! They had no problem making our specific requests for the food. There were plenty of indoor and outdoor tables. The waitresses were attentive and able to handle our group of six with ease. This is a must visit at the Dells!

“Tasty Burgers and Homemade Chips!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2015

My husband and I were in the Dells last weekend, and decided to hit up the Brat House Grill for one of our dinners. We were the only patrons in the bar/restaurant...except for a drunk lady hanging out at the slot machines... But it was only 4:00 p.m., and it was off-season, so I am sure that is why there weren't many people there.

Our waiter was very nice. And our food was delicious. My husband got a brat, with peppers on it, and the homemade fries. I got a bacon cheeseburger with the homemade parmesan fries. My burger was delicious! It had thick-cut bacon covering the burger, cooked well - not that floppy fake stuff you get on your burger at other restaurants. The homemade parmesan fries came with homemade ranch dressing and were sooooo good.

While it looks more like a bar than a grill, the food was very good. I recommend it!

“Dog Friendly, casual Awesomeness.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2015

No place better to stop on a road trip than Brat House Grill. Cold Beer, tasty Brats, and always a nice bowl of water for my dog on the patio. Thanks for making it an easy choice to stop and visit you!

We took the kids along with us over spring break and sat in the back room. It was really good food and great prices. Would eat here again for sure!

“Great food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2015

Sort of has the feeling of a "dive bar" and probably not the greatest place to take children. That being said, the food was awesome! Try the homemade chips!
