“Great Family Weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2014

Stayed at Glacier Canyon for a winter getaway. We had a 3 bedroom deluxe with 4 adults and 4 children. The place was comfortable with plenty of room to stretch out. Had a full kitchen which made meals easier and cheaper. The rooms were clean but the leather furniture in the living room was worn and needs to be replaced. Bathrooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The water parks were great offering a large variety of water slides, kids areas and a lazy river. However, expect to stand in line for a long time on the bigger slides. The new lazer tag was kind of pricey but a lot of fun. I highly recommend it. The only on site restaurant where we ate was the Thirsty Buffalo. It was terrible. There's very little seating and we were told by the staff we could basically stand by the door until a table opened up. Instead of seating us we had to sprint to an open table before someone else took it. Then it took a long time after we found a table to get it cleaned from the previous diners. The food was overpriced and just ok. That was really the only negative of the weekend. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything is connected so you can walk anywhere and avoid the cold. If you don;t want to walk, shuttles will take you anywhere on the grounds. Overall a good experience and we look forward to going back.

We've been going to the Dells in the winter for a few years. The Wilderness Resort and Glacier Canyon are always consistent in roominess and cleanliness. This year we rented a two bedroom, 1.5 bathroom unit. Plenty of room for 2 adults and 4 teenagers. The property was crowded but not unreasonable. We paid about $240 for the room, which is a good price considering the water park admission covered all of us. Parking was VERY challenging, and the towels in the room were small and thin. Those were the only less than perfect things about the stay. The resorts in the Dells are always noisy, and this one was no different. Customers need to be prepared to hear children and adults running in the hallways and in the room above.

This was our 2nd annual trip to Glacier Canyon Lodge & Wilderness Resort. Had a great stay. Check-in was prompt and front desk attendant was extremely friendly. We got there a bit early for check in, so room wasn't quite ready. We were able to hang out in the waterpark and then were texted when the room was available. We stayed in 2 bedroom unit. Unit was clean & nicely appointed. Arms on the couch and chairs were showing a bit of wear. Kitchen was well-equipped, which was great as we and another family (friends of ours, staying across the hall) were able to prepare nice dinners and breakfasts. We were able to get later check-out, which was very helpful in trying to get our kids back from the waterpark in the morning and changed. Great experience. We will be back again for our 3rd annual trip next year! I should note that the rates for the 2 bedroom condo were phenomenal....under $160/night!

My family celebrated Christmas here for the third time, a group of 27 with 13 kids. it's a great place to keep the kids busy and happy so adults don't get over run. It also has great rooms and activities on top of 5 water parks.

Room Tip: Wrist bands for water park is based on occupancy so be sure u get a big enough room to get enough wr...

3 day stay. Awesome staff and got us into our room quickly and well before 4 pm. Room was basic and clean. We went to the breakfast buffet one morning, expensive 13.99 and 7.99 for a 10 yo, you can order from a menu but costs about the same with a beverage. Food was hot and fresh at 9 am. Pools were crowded but not like other places in the dells that let in day trippers. Slides were fun and lines moved quickly. Someone had a party at 11 pm slamming doors and running down the hall, called the front desk and security was sent and the noise disappeared within 15 minutes. Btw bring a fan or a white noise app, there is constant activity or people passing in the hall. Also stay on the top floor otherwise you will hear all sorts of noises from above. Great stay! Make sure to try Moosejaw pizza and UNOs pizza. Sprechers is good too. Great stay in the Dells!

We stayed at a 3 bedroom presidential Dec 24 for 3 nights. First, the bad, check in and out times. Check in is 4 pm very late although they will let you get water park passes early, but the 10 am check out time is crazy. Way too early for a big family to clean up, pack up and get out. I wonder why they need 6 hours for room cleaning. My guess is short staff. Translation: too cheap. Front desk staff is average at best. Not helpful nor informative. Also to get your parking passes you have to go to timeshare desk, hint, you dont need passes or if you are concerned just dont answer phone because they will call you.
Presidential condos are much bigger in the kitchen, dining and living room area than deluxe. Internet has the floorplans for you to see. The units are well kept. Nothing was broken or damaged. Great unit.
Waterpark is really nice but crowded. Staff at park is poor. Hot tub rules are not enforced so be aware there will be small children in it.
Wilderness is a bit old and dated but has done upgrades in dry park area. They have lazer tag, mini golf, ropes on a challenging course and a ball area for kids. There is a special for 20 that includes all.
Overall be aware it is crowded on weekends and holidays because the outside is closed for winter and all the rooms will be inside. Summertime is great because of the outside waterparks being open.
Nice place for a family.

My husband and I stayed here with our 7 month old, along with another couple and their two small kids in a 2 bedroom condo for a weekend in the beginning of December. As this is attached to The Wilderness Hotel, guests have a plethora of activities to choose from!
Pros
-The 2 bedroom condo we stayed in had a full kitchen with cookware and tableware- my only wish was that basic cooking and cleaning supplies were provided, such as salt and pepper, cooking spray, paper towel, more hand towels.
-1 1/2 bathrooms was a nice perk with the extra people in the living space
-The main living space was spacious and decorated nicely.
-The space was cleaned well, only little issue there was dust coming off of living room ceiling fan when turned on....it was obvious that the fan had not been cleaned in quite some time.
-The décor of the entire complex was festive and kept up well
-Indoor walkways to all of the waterparks and activities in different parts of this grand resort made traveling from one place to another in freezing cold temps a lot more bearable...especially in wet swimsuits!
-We had requested to be on the top floor near the walkways to other parts of the resort, and this was granted, despite the hotel being at high capacity!
-The amount of and variety of activities offered is incredible! One doesn't really need to leave the resort the entire weekend-various restaurants, three indoor waterparks with places for different age ranges, laser tag, mini-golf, shops, not to mention the extra outdoor activities available in the warmer months, such as walking trails, picnic spots, zip lining, two or three outdoor waterpark areas....the list could keep going....
-The water temperature and air in the waterparks were fairly warm and towels are provided so long as you remember your pool towel cards they give you upon check-in.

While we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, there were some minor details that left something to be desired...
Cons:
-The size of the bedrooms within the condo were pretty tight....especially with pack n plays for the little ones.
-The one bathroom with the tub/shower had doors into both bedrooms...we were constantly knocking on the door to make sure someone from the other room wasn't using it....
-My husband ate at the restaurant in the Wild West section of the Wilderness Resort and said it left a lot to be desired...service was great, but very generic, bland food....
-While there are so many activities to choose from, this led to a very spread out, sometimes confusing, resort. There is a lot of walking to get from place to place, which can be tiring when carrying little kids.
-The entrances and routes to get to various waterparks did not seem well thought-out...people were getting bottlenecked in the Klondike Cavern entrance, having to cut through one waterpark to get to the Wild Waterdome, while the Wild West waterpark was accessible through the restaurant?....very strange and somewhat confusing.
-While the indoor walkways were great, they were still pretty chilly....

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return again. I believe you will get the most 'bang for your buck' by going when your children can walk from place to place on their own easily....elementary school age on up. If you want a lot of options, this is definitely the place to stay, however, if you want something more condensed, try one of the other resorts

Room Tip: If you don't want to be walking a mile to the indoor waterparks, ask to be placed near the indoo...
