“Long time loyal fan, Seeing things slip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

I have stayed at Sundara for many years and I love the setting and amenties of the pool, pine trees, jacuzzi and atmosphere of being outdoors in all weather, just magical. Over the course of these stays, at least 1x per year, I have voiced concerns over the LOUD talking and LOUD people in the QUIET areas of this pricey spa. These people do not understand what a spa getaway is all about and are destroying the introspective soothing need to decrompress that brings people to a spa. If you want to drink and blather loudly, go to a water park where no one can hear you. Also, the rooms are not fully cleaned, they only cleaned 1/2 of myt room and it felt 1/2 done. The pillow was on the floor when I arrived??? Things are missed and missing in the room (like robes!!). They room service was good, the food was average, nothing spectacular. The breakfast is the same thing every day, and only so so. The spa services are average and due to the 20% tip pre-set, the people seem that they do not care to provide an excellent service. The massages are light and done 1/2 way. The staff seemed to be in a big rush to get you in and out and on to the next person, it was not relaxing at all. I am disappointed as I truly love the setting and pool area. I keep requesting a fix to the LOUD problem, but nothing is ever done. Sundara is a fabulous setting, with average amenities and services. It is a sad disappoitment to what could be a 5 star spa experience.

Room Tip: Room facing the woods.

Wyndham has recently purchased some villas that are part of Sundara Inn and Spa. With a stay at one of the villas through Wyndham, you get free access to the spa and pool facilities at Sundara Inn and Spa. The massages are an extra fee. In addition, you get access to the Wilderness Resort Water Park that is about one mile away. The three bedroom villa (two bedroom unit with the attached lockout) that we stayed in was incredibly nice. It was very spacious with high quality amenities. It was a very quite location on one of the golf fairways. I enjoyed the spa facilities, with the many different showers, hot tubs, cold plunges and steam rooms. The aroma scents and mud/gravel rubs given complimentary were very invigorating..

Room Tip: The rooms are assigned at check-in. Some like the end units of the row of condos for more privacy.

Excellent experience from start to finish. Spent Friday 10/4 thru Sunday 10/6 with a friend for a girls weekend getaway. We had the best experience from the moment we checked in until we left mid afternoon Sunday. Friday afternoon we checked in and enjoyed our room then took a spa tour as several treatments were booked for Saturday & Sunday. Pamela was excellent in explaining all the spa had to offer so that when we came for our treatments on Saturday it was smooth & simple. Treatments were all excellent and private yoga was also very good. Room service was great and the free breakfast was way more than expected. Cannot wait to come again.

Room Tip: Had a plush suite overlooking the pool which was wonderful.

I had previously written a review about being disappointed with my stay. I was encouraged to return and we did for our anniversary. Things were better and it we were able to relax more this time. It is better to visit during the week when there are less people around. I did appreciate that the Spa responded to my concerns.

Room Tip: if you can afford an upgrade the screened in porches are nice

We were given a gift of a night at Sundara and we LOVED it! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like very valuable guests. Our check in was welcoming and warm. Our room was immaculate, posh and very comfortable. The in room bath and shower were incredible and the spa area was wonderful. We LOVED the morning breakfast and our services were outstanding! We aren't the type to SPA often, but this treat was unforgettable!

Green Features: We are concerned about these practices and were happy to see that Sundara works hard to remind us to be mindful!

I do really like Sundara, but I just cannot get over how disappointing the "spa breakfast" is and how the quiet spaces are becoming less and less quite, mostly due to daytrippers. Every time I visit Sundara I think "this visit will be the one, the breakfast will finally be revamped," but no, that's never the case. The sausage and pancakes are all around disgusting, why bother serving them. The dairy and bread items are cheap and, I've said this time and time again, a spa that boasts "green practices" and "culinary delights" should really offer local, organic food and the breakfast offerings are neither. Some examples . . Cinnamon Toast Crunch, a large container of Dannon yogurt plopped into ice for guests to scoop yogurt from, cheap, cheap english muffins, weak coffee, among other disappointments. Sundara, you really need to get your act together. With rates running several hundred dollars and services well north of $100, I expect a quality spa breakfast.
Also frustrating are the masses of daytrippers clogging up the once quite and relaxing common areas. Is it really appropriate to offer full use of facilities to clients who say, only book a pedicure? It's pretty easy to drop $500 at Sundara once you tally up a one-night stay, spa service and dinner. So yeah, I have a problem sharing the bath ritual and pool with people who aren't overnight guests. As a company you've made the decision to not offer basic toiletries in the room, rather you mount shampoo, conditioner and body wash containers on the shower wall, you probably did this as a cost savings measure, I get that, but again, I have a problem sharing facilities with people who aren't spending the night and benefit from everything I'm paying for, yet I can't even toss a hotel-sized bottle of shampoo in my bag when I leave.

Room Tip: I always request a room away from the breakfast area.

Green Features: They may be good about reminding guests to limit towel use as a water-saving measure, but they certainly do not offer local, organic breakfast items.

Have been here before and had to cancel a reservation today a month in advance and they charged a $30 processing fee. Way to annoy a decent customer...will think twice about going back due to this insulting, backwards, customer-punishing policy. Had just recently purchased a $500 package as a gift for a family member there too....Really is it worth it to you people to lose business over a stupid "policy" like this?
