We are planning our next visit and will make this an annual getaway for sure. I went with my friend who was celebrating her birthday and we had a very relaxing time. This next trip will be with my husband to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary. Can't wait!

I had very high expectations when going to this spa. This was supposed to be my first night away from my new baby. I was bringing a girlfriend who was also a new mom. The purpose of the trip was relaxation and finally a good nights sleep!!!!
Upon arrival, we asked the front desk if it was ok for us to have guests in our room. We had friends in the area who were coming to meet us for dinner and we decided to order room service instead of going somewhere. They said they did allow guests in the room, and we proceeded to order over $100 in room service. After dinner our guests left around 8pm. The staff at the front saw us walk our guests out. We then had a drink by the pool and headed to our room for bed. All of a sudden, at 10:40 pm we got a phone call to our room. It was the front desk asking if our guests had left. They said they had a policy that guests need to leave by 10pm. It was almost as if the staff thought we were sneaking people in. We were extremely offended to get a call at such a late hour!!!!! This was finally our night of good sleep. The spa doesn't even allow cell phones on common grounds, that is how relaxing they want it to be. Why they felt it was necessary to call at such a late hour is beyond me!!! They ended up giving us $25 off our bill, but I feel that was the least they could do!
I have to admit, the spa itself was beautiful, but the staff and how the spa is managed was horrible. We had a pedicure also while we were there (value $85). I work in the beauty industry and there is nothing unique about their pedicure. You could get the same pedicure in the mall for $25. Definitely not worth the money!

This was our second visit to Sundara. We enjoyed a plush suite. The screen porch area was very comfortable and has a great view. Take time to walk the grounds, they are peaceful.
The spa services that I tried were the best. The two women were talented and I felt at ease for the entire process. It is a wonderful spa to enjoy.
We felt that the breakfast service had been improved from our first visit. The room service is good and adds to the get away from it all experience. Dinner by the fireplace was nice.
The pool area is one of the great places to unwind. The problem is that anyone can book a spa service and enjoy the pool all day. These guests yelled out at the pool and kept track of all the other hotels they were staying at. They used cellphones. It made a beautiful afternoon, loud and noisy. The guests staying at the inn were quiet, the others did not stay quiet for a minute. This needs to be improved. At night the sound from the open fire area will carry up to the suite. It is not the inn's fault that a group of women used foul language.
An escape with some needless noise.

Room Tip: Try a plush suite.

This was truly a spa vacation. We went for a ladies weekend. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. We stayed in our robes the entire weekend...to go to breakfast, the pool, the shower ritual, etc. It never seemed too crowded. Very relaxing and enjoyable!

We had to stay close to home for our anniversary and tried Sundara Spa. You can find 48 hours of high-end relaxation within a 4 hour drive from Chicago. Once we settled into the resort, we never left. We pretended the resort was our dream home and to be honest, everyone is very private and respectful so it was easy. We ate lunch and dinner in our robes by the pool or poolside fire pit and basically relaxed to great food, wine and massages. The pool is one of the biggest selling points, so great weather is key!

Room Tip: We had a room by the back stairs, which seemed to be faster than the elevator on the opposite end.

Last month we stayed at the Sundara Inn and Spa to celebrate our anniversary. We typically stay at the Inn and have always enjoyed our stay. This time however, they happen to have a special on the Villas Suites -- less than $200 -- and we jumped on it.

The Villa's are about 100 yards away from the main property and each Villa consists of 3 suites. The one we had was a huge one-bedroom suite (consisting of a full kitchen, king sized bedoom, bathroom and a beautiful lounging area that has a cafe table, oversized chairs and a large whirlpool...surrounded by windows). Our one-beroom suite was book-ended by two multi-bedroom - condo-like - suites with ALL the amenities with a wrap-around porch overlooking the woods and adjacent golf course. Deer roam the properity throughout the day/night. The area is VERY serene and peaceful -- fitting the whole Spa theme of Sundara.

They were completing a serenity garden area when we left -- another nice touch.

We love Sundara -- it's become a favorite for celebrating our birthdays and anniversay, or when ever we just need to get away from it all. I love the Spa area, relaxation ritual, quiet lounging area, outdoor infinity pool, hot tubs, waterfalls and firepit. My wife loves the nearby outlet shopping and casino!

Who says you can't have it all ?!!

Room Tip: If you want the convenience of having everything in one location (Spa, spa services, pool, breakfast...

For out 10th anniversary, my wife and I spent 3 days without children at the glorious and wonderful Sundara Inn and Spa.

We arrived and check in was no problem, and our room was ready. It was clean, luxurious and had two bath robes folded on the bed. The bath robes being the most important part because Sundara is actually a cult of relaxation, and everyone wanders around in their robes. It is a nice state and makes you very relaxed.

And I hope you like water...for that is what this place is all about. Our room had a crazy 8 headed shower contraption, and a whirlpool tub. Then when you enter the spa, there are two showers, a steam room, a hot tub, and a cold bath. Then you go outside and there is a perfectly heated pool and another hot tub. They say water makes you relaxed...and it does.

The breakfast buffet in the morning was always very good and had a nice variety, although some of the baked goods are fresh...and others were off the back of some food service truck. The dichotomy was a bit disconcerting.

The bar by the pool also made the time slip by, and the fact you could eat outside, or inside, or in your room gave you some nice options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The only confusing thing is that all three nights we were out, but only one night did they come in and do the turn down service (mints on the bed, turn the music on...I am not sure what else).

And some rooms have the tub with a wall to the bathroom cut-out...so privacy in the wash room is a bit limited in these rooms...I don't know why the didn't put a door to the alcove with the toilet like many other places.

Overall a very nice place to get away from it all. I wouldn't come here to do any real work, as you might just drop those important papers into one of the many pools and watch your troubles wash away...
