We stayed June 1st -June 4th 2010. We had originally booked a lakeside King size mini-suite, but our "dog-sitter " bailed at the last minute, so we had to change our room to a dog friendly lakeside Double Queen deluxe room. Only certain rooms allow dogs,( there quite a few different types) so check the web-site under rooms/rates. There is a chart you can click on, and the ones with a " * "<asterix> are dog friendly )
Check-in was a breeze. Arrived at our room on the second floor with 2 dogs and a lot of baggage in-tow. Used the baggage trolley. BONUS: elevator !!!! That in itself was greatly appreciated! Upon opening the door to our room, we were greeted by a fresh, clean smell. No "doggie" smell at all. AND a beautiful view of Lake Delton from our private balcony.( ALL rooms, lakeside/non-lakeside, have a balcony or patio, <or in the case of the cottages, a porch>, good news for all us smokers as all the rooms themselves are smoke-free. ). The only downside I can see as far as rooms go is that the television is small and rather dated, but picture was great and alot of cable channels are available. After the ruin of Lake Delton a couple of years ago, businesses are still trying to recap their losses from that disaster, so I can live with a smallish TV !
Beds were comfortable, but nothing matches your own bed at home. Bathrooms are clean and up to date.
The beach is very clean and quite large for the Lake Delton area. While there we rented a pontoon boat and did the whole perimeter of Lake Delton and Bakers looked up to par & even better than alot we saw. Baker's offers sand volleyball, horseshoes, even an outdoor ping-pong table ! That was a blast.
Even with that gorgeous beach, Bakers has both an indoor and outdoor pool, and a third "kiddie" pool/sprinkler set-up. GREAT for families with all age-range kids
We used Schleef's Boat and Pontoon Rental to rent our pontoon. They were the cheapest and much nicer than the "big guys" when we called for rental info. I'm all about helping out the "little guy" and at Schleef's they were very helpful and informative. The pontoon we rented was in great condition, and included a small gas grill ( which we used and was great for cooking burgers on the water. ) Gas for the pontoon and the grill was also included, so for the price, ( Under $100 for 4 hours ) we had a great afternoon. Dogs included !!
Hey, in these crazy financial times, you could easily spend a mint visiting the Dells, so for us it was all about the bang for your buck. And Baker's really delivered in that category.
I recommend them to all our friends, and now you. One stay at Baker's and you will never stay on the "strip" again !
