We just read the review of Delton Oaks Resort that was not so favorable, and my husband and I are speechless! We stayed at Delton Oaks at the same time (we met Ollie, too), and we had a wonderful time and will definitely go back again. These people must have been at a different resort than we were! The owners are generally lenient about dogs, and if the dogs are behaving, they are allowed to be off-leash when they are swimming or playing together. That was what made it so much fun for all the dog owners. We found our room to be very clean and comfortable. The bed wasn't like home, but when is a hotel bed ever as comfortable as home? I will grant that the buildings are not new, but the trade-off was that we could bring our dogs (what new hotel lets you do that!) and we were so close to the terrific beach and lake that any decorating issues were immaterial. I'm sorry the other people didn't have as good a time as we did. Guess you can't please everyone every time.

We planned a last minute memorial day get away and we needed to take our dog with us. We were very excited to find Delton Oaks would accept animals. The rules are reasonable and we had no problem with them since our dog is very well trained. However, I felt like I was the only dog owner that was picking up after my pet. I also felt like I was the only one with my dog on a leash. The resorts owner/daughter had a boxer named "Ollie". It is a very nice dog but they allow it to run free and I even witnessed it peeing on the children's life jackets. The rooms are just ok. We stayed in a lakeside two bedroom kitchenette. They need to be cleaned better. There is dirt in every corner. The bedrooms have wallpapper that is peeling off and the screen door to the balcony of our room was destroyed. The large garbage bin was just outside our door down the stairs and did it reek! They definitly need to move that somewhere else durring the summer months. The beds are rock hard and we did not get a good nights sleep on them. I do not think we will be staying here again, exspecially at the price of $170 a night! It is a nice, economy getaway for a group of college kids, but it is not up to my standards for family comfort. They definitly need to remodel the rooms a little as I have a feeling they have not changed much since the building was built, and that was when, in like the 60's?

My fiance' and I wanted to get away to a quiet relaxing spot and we found it at Delton Oaks Resort. We had a lakeside room overlooking the lake and it was breathtaking, serene and relaxing. The hospitality was great and we were minutes from the excitement, yet we were able to retreat back to our lover's hideway....We have already made plans to come again in the future!!

Thankfully we stumbled upon this wonderful place on our totally unplanned vacation.
Every place we stopped for a room, we were almost laughed at when we mentioned we had a dog. The Delton resort was recommended by a snooty resort across the lake. The owners of Delton Oaks were very welcoming and friendly. They upgraded us from a kitchenette to the lakeside cabin, saying we would be cozier there. There wasn't an increase in price either. We wish we could claim this place as ours for every vacation.
