We have gone to the Kalahari more times than I can count. We have just returned from an over night stay. This trip was much better than our last stay. I think due to the fact we had an awesome deal from one of those email coupon social things.
We had a fantastic room: two bedroom suite. We never left the hotel, everything is there and very good. It's a great place for kids, so they never complained of being bored. We found the staff very friendly, if rather uninformed - though I understand many were very newly employed. We seemed to have gotten lucky on a slow night for the hotel. Perhaps it was between conventions. This made for a great experience for us!
It's very expensive without a special deal. The theme park is a money pit, but some of the restaurants have a dine-and-play menu that provides a $10 arcade card with a price increased menu item. So, pay $6.00 extra and get a $10 arcade card...Whatever! It made the kids happy, and we would have paid similar prices and the effort to leave the hotel anyway, so it was a small irritant.
Like another reviewer suggested, it would be nice to have a loyalty program at this hotel. We have been coming for years and years. Some visits are much better than others. When the hotel is full, it's a completely different experience.
The bottom line:
Again, though I didn't tally it up as well as last time, I estimate we spent at least $250 for an over night stay, likely closer to $300. We used a coupon, and we tried to be frugal. We did have a good time, we found the resort clean, friendly, and the two bedroom suit was a huge luxury.
