“GOOD GETAWAY 4 THE KIDS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Hello travel-family, took the family here(last week), for Spring-Break. Stayed at the Odyssey, every-one here was helpful and friendly. If you need anything talk to Kevin, at the front-deck. We had a 2-bedroom unit, nice and clean, the only draw-back is, there is no cabinet-space or counter-space in the kitchen. Good thing the water-park was open, every-thing else on the strip was closed, including my man Rick Wilcox and his magic act, hope to see him during the summer here.Well the kids enjoyed them-selves, and that's what matters most. Enjoy your vacations every-one, bye.

This was our first and last time staying at a bluegreen resort.

I will start with the room. On first impression it was nice, upon further inspection, lots of cons began to surface. The master was okay, a little small, no closet, there was a tiny wardrobe instead. I prefer an actual closet instead of a wardrobe. The flat screen tv was nice, it worked, the remote worked, no complaints on the tv. The master bathroom, I was very disappointed that we didn't have a big spa tub. We don't have one at home, and I look forward to when we go away so I can have a brief fling with a jet tub. I think some rooms have the fancy tub, we did not luck out.

The second bedroom, the queen bed barely fit in it, leaving little space to move. How we managed to squeeze the pack n play in the room for our toddler is beyond me. No closet or wardrobe whatsoever in the room. We used the bed as a closet for our daughters clothes since she was in the pnp. Also, what on earth is up with the "walls" for the second bedroom? They had slants up on top and weren't solid walls. Our toddler "loved" the fact that she could hear sounds from the living room as she was trying to sleep.

Second bathroom, no complaints.

Kitchen, I think that was a kitchen. It's labeled as a "mini" kitchen. Well it was pretty minuscule. No oven, instead there was a convection microwave which was difficult to figure out how to use until we discovered the directions hidden in the welcome binder. Absolutely no storage space for the dry goods and snacks I brought. Barely any counter space, and what little there was, the coffee maker and toaster took up all the space. No hooks for the pot holders and kitchen towels, so they took up valuable space on the counter.

Sound proofing- what's that? We could hear every flush from the toilet in the room above us. We knew every single time the other rooms were using their showers. Sleeping in....not very easy when we could hear every single sound being made by other guests.

Laundry- we usually stay with a different time share company where there is a washer and dryer in each unit. Not at this place. Instead there were laundry rooms, I felt like I was back at college. The closest laundry room to us was on the 2nd floor. 3 washers, 3 dryers, 1 washer was broken. The directions for the washer: 1. Load clothes. 2. Close doors. 3. Put in detergent. 4. Push in coin slot. 5. Push and hold start button. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until washer starts. Huh!?!? It took me about 10 tries to get it to start. At least it was free, otherwise all my quarters would have gotten eaten by the hungry machine. There were no timers on any of the machines, so we had no idea how long it would take and when to come back to move our clothes to the dryer.

Shower water: the water got warm fast and the water pressure in the showers was perfect.

Wifi: free wifi! And it was fast and worked awesome.

Water park: the indoor water park was located at a different hotel. Bluegreen odyssey had a sky walk that connected to the other hotel. The sky walk is located on the 3rd floor, and we had to walk through the other hotel to the other end to get to the indoor water park. It was not as crowded as it probably is in the summertime. It had a few big slides, a small lazy river, a pirate ship area for the smaller kids, a pool and 2 hottubs. Our daughter loved the water park and we went almost every day.

The staff- the guy who checked us in was great. We got there early, he checked to see if our room was ready (it wasn't) but took our phone number and said he would call us when it was ready. The lady at concierge was nice, but talked us into the sales presentation. Most of the staff was rude, when we passed a group of house keepers they didn't smile at us, or say hi or ask us how our day was. However, we did meet a few nice housekeepers.

Odyssey dells has a sister resort, Christmas mountain. It's about a 10 minute drive each way. And this is where the sales presentation and all the activities are. The sales presentation was awful, 2 hours is way too long. I'm on vacation, I don't want to sit through a 2hour presentation. The guy giving it didn't stay on topic and kept going off on tangents. Who really expects people to sit through that? None of my college classes were even that long! No breaks were offered, the children that were there got restless, it was boring and worthless. A sales presentation shouldn't be longer then an hour. The incentive to go wasn't good enough for the torture we endured. And we didn't do any of the activities offered because Christmas mountain wasn't close enough to make it worth it. In fact we weren't even given a brochure of the activities offered, just told that there were activities at the sister site. Odyssey dells should offer their own activities on site.

We have stayed at many RCI and Wyndham resorts, bluegreen doesn't even come close to my expectations for a resort.

Room Tip: Third floor is where the skywalk is. Lower the number the closer to the skywalk.

We had a very nice two bedroom suite. The front desk and the concierge were all friendly and helpful. The only negative is the kitchen area. Not enough counter space. The oven is a combination oven/microwave which was a little complicated at first but worked fine once I figured it out. Otherwise great. I would come again.

So the resort is in good shape and nicely appointed. We brought our own food and used the galley kitchen to save some money. I think it might be a nice dells location in the summer. I know other people have noted loud and busy, but that is all the resort hotels in the dells in summer by and large. In the winter the place is silent and empty.
Flat screen TVs and large tub in the master bath was nice.

The one negative thing in the winter season is that you are very distant from the indoor water park. So make plans accordingly.

Plans for kiddos with the indoor park, most of the slides require hight over 48 inches. So little toddlers have limited water play options.

Room Tip: Look for lower number rooms for slight shortening of walk to the park.

We didn't stay at this hotel but had friends that did. We were so impressed by the friendliness of staff to the cleanliness of the hotel. We stayed at one of the Village rooms for Mt Olympus and were quite jealous of our friends. The hotel was quiet and nicely decorated. Parking was so much easier as well for them. We would defiantely stay at a BlueGreen.

My family stayed at this hotel from November 16th-23rd. We stayed in the newly renovated two bedroom suite with a mini kitchen. The staff were friendly and the overall appearance of the hotel was bright and clean. They did try to sell us more timeshare, but we declined and they never bothered us again, which was nice. So thank you BGOD Staff.

Since, we came here off season, obviously the outdoor waterparks were closed.
We did enjoy the indoor waterpark and theme park available at Mt. Olympus which was included in our stay here at BGOD. I've included some picture of the hotel and the room we stayed in. I will also be doing a review of Wisconsin Dells, so feel free to read it if you're interested.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the 4th floor it is quieter than the 3rd floor which is connected to the walkway that...

Came to the area on a weekend package to attend a Bluegreen Timeshare presentation. Did not have a choice where we stayed. We were at the Mercy of bluegreen. Paid $149 for the two night package then another $67.50 resort fees and taxes. I guess we got what we paid for. Two nights of being woke up because of rude people in the hallways all night and an awful bed (a cheap mattress on a sheet of plywood on a pine frame). The room was dark and sparse. At first appeared to be clean but then I noticed a hair coming out of one of the cups that was supposed to be used to prepare the disgusting instant coffee. Attempted to use the indoor watermark. The water was cold and the chemicals so strong it burned eyes. While checking in, the clerk tried to get us to sign off saying we had a $200 balance. Took about ten minutes to clear this up. On the next return to Wisconsin Dells I will select the resort and it will not be this one.

Room Tip: Another hotel.
