We went to the Great Wolf once in the summer and found it to be very expensive and very crowded but liked it so we decided to go back in November for my son's birthday week. We have been going every november since and really enjoy it. The only thing I dont like is that during the off season some of the waterpark rooms arent open until late afternoon and also, the bar and snack bar are only open for a few hours so if you want a cold beer you have to get it early. We ate every morning at the buffet which is average for a buffet and ate supper at the loose moose bar and grill, the food is always very good and we have always had very good service. The kids also enjoy the gameroom and going down to the clock tower at night to hear stories. We usually go for 3 days/2 nifghts but this November we are going for 5 days/4 nights so the kids have more time to play. Wilesys Woods is also very fun for the kids so plan on spending several hours there and enjoy a pizza while you are there. Overall we really enjoy the Lodge and continue to make it a yearly trip.

Very good water park, not so hot cabin suite

From the beginning, technical difficulties plagued our stay. I tried to reserve the cabin suite for our family through the Web site, but there was a glitch that put a higher price into the final page. I called the lodge directly and was charged an extra fee to have an actual person register us.

The check-in process was very slow and hindered by computer problems that rejected our credit card (we don't carry debt, so this doesn't ever happen), once that problem was fixed we had to correct the amount because of some other technical glitch.

We dubbed the room "cassa corn-chip" because of the strong smell that seemed to be embedded deeply into everything in the room. Along with the unclean smell the furniture was pretty rickety, and there was additional odor from the refrigerator. Mattresses are low-end. I was VERY happy that I had decided to bring my own pillow.

The water park is the main reason this hotel exists, and I have to say that it exceeded the wishes and expectations of our family. Plan to spend at least one full day just playing at the hotel. We had one full day at the water park, and then spent our evenings there during the other two days of our stay.

There is a Tanger outlet mall with an adjoining parking lot to the hotel. Also in the adjoining lot you will find a great restaurant and a Knuckleheads (indoor amusement park).

You can get limited types of Starbucks coffee (no soy substitution, though) at the Bear Claw Cafe near the lobby. The Loose Moose Bar and Grill had very good food and exceptional service. We tried to eat at the Camp Critter Buffet for dinner one evening, but the doors were closed and locked with no hours posted.

Overall, we enjoyed our time at the Dells. I can't say we'll stay at the Great Wolf Lodge on subsequent visits. We'll probably check out some of the other lodging and water parks in the area.

We wanted to get the kids away when it wasn't so busy.
The Dells gets very busy during the summer months.
So, we picked the place and headed out.
The hotel was great overall, the waterpark had lots to do for all of our kids (12, 9 and 5) and kept them busy.
Condo was nice, and had enough tvs for everyone for that 'settle down' time before bed.
Only downside - in the full kitchen, no non-stick cookware....
With a family of 5 we try to eat in most of our meals, but cooking eggs in the morning was no fun. There was only dishwasher soap available, no sink dishsoap.
The tv remotes for the 2 in the bedrooms didn't work, and maintenance had to come and take care of that - which they did promptly.
Overall, great hotel and staff was very friendly and responsive.

  • Liked — Location - near outlet mall
  • Disliked — No non-stick cookware in full kitchen condo

We stayed at the Great Wolf 8/25/08-8/27/08 and we had a blast. Staff was friendly, rooms were great, waterpark was awesome, the kids loved the storytime at the big clock in the lobby. Being there actually felt like you were at home. Once when we were out sight-seeing for the day, I actually said 'wait till we get home...I mean, to the hotel'. It is very comfortable and warm. I absolutely have no complaints and will definitely be back. Unfortunately we cut our trip short to spend a night at the Kalahari. Big mistake. I regret that we didn't stay at the Wolf that night. What a disaster!

This is our 3rd trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in a little over a year. We came this time using credit card points. We were in room 190 a 2 queen bed suite.
It was ok.....the rooms lack in lights and being clean. The room was dark and I understand that the energy saving bulbs are dark I have them in my own house but the decor is also dark.
The rooms are not clean .... There were papers behind the sofa bed and the grout has mold in the bathroom I could go on about this but I have said it before, I still think they need to overhaul the rooms block by block and clean them during the off season, and again if you can afford it upgrade your room I find the Kid Cabin suite was cleaner and nicer from our previous trip. That being said I will say that the waterpark is great and the lifeguards are great. This is why we keep coming back.
The waterpark offers quite a few good slides and things for our 3 year old to do. The price of the resort food is reasonable and I like being close to the outlet mall.
Buffalo Phil's next door could disappear and not be missed...horrible food and so so service.
We really like the Great Wolf Lodge for it's staff and service. One other new thing we did this time was rent a cabana. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the park is is really worth it to have a private refuge. Will we go back again??? Not sure may try another park unless we get a great deal at the Great Wolf.
