I’m in the Dells pretty much every weekend and I had been hearing from a co-worker in Chicago about the restaurant for months. Every time I bumped into her, she would just rave and rave about it and ask when I am going!? So, I finally decided to go on Friday evening in August. Driving to Ishnala could be a little confusing for some, seeing how it is on a back road of the Wis Dells area. However, there is much signage for the Supper Club along the way which was very helpful. Once you make the turn into Ishnala’s long and winding driveway, it’s a breeze. The road leading in may seem like it’s never-ending with the tall trees and curves of the road, but it leads straight to Ishnala – and it’s in a beautiful, woodsy area. Stepping out of the car I was already in awe of the atmosphere and beauty I was surrounded by on Ishnala’s property. We arrived around 7 and walked the path that had tiki torches that added to the ambiance and made our way to the entrance. Once we entered, we were greeted by a hostess and she asked how many of our party and it were two. She told us that there would be about a forty minute wait and suggested that we visit one of the bars or walk around the property. We decided to check out the outdoor bar, located at the back of the restaurant. Walking down a few steps onto the deck, my boyfriend and I were astounded by the beauty of Mirror Lake at sunset. I ordered a house chardonnay and he ordered a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary had an over the top (literally) garnish – on a kabob of cheese assortments, shrimp and meat. The bartender (didn’t catch his name) was very friendly and asked if I had a camera with me to take a picture of my boyfriend and I in front of the lake. I was really impressed with his offer and took him up on it. We were able to sip our drinks on the deck overlooking the lake and needless to say, it was a very enjoyable and fast forty minute wait. We were sat at a table not next to the window, but across from a table that was next to the window and it was still a magnificent view. Our server greeted us and told us about the specials of the night – he was also very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I ordered the Twin Lobster Tails (Special of the night) and my boyfriend ordered the New York Strip. First, out were the salads. I had the Caesar Salad and my boyfriend had the House Salad – I’m not a huge salad fan, so to me they were just your ordinary salads. Next, our steak and lobsters were brought out. The food was excellent. My boyfriend said and still says that it was one of the best steaks he has had. The lobster tails were absolutely delicious – every piece perfectly melted in my mouth. We were both blown away at Ishnala’s. From the atmosphere to the service to the food, everything was an amazing experience.
