This was my first time skiing. We had a pretty good time although I do not look forward to the aches tomorrow! It only took us 45 minutes from the Lake Zurich area and there were several fast food joints and gas stations with snack areas along the drive. Very convenient. Thank you reviewers for telling us to preregister. That saved us some time. I also called the place to find out what time we should come since my 2 kids and me would be taking a semi private lesson. We were all first time skiers. They said if we were there by 9am we could be on the slopes by 9:30. Okay now that was totally wrong. We did not get on the slopes till 10:30am. It was quite frustrating and lines were long. They really need to do something about the ski school line. You wait in the same line to get signed up for classes and get back in the same line to get your ski instructor after you get your gear. This should really be 2 separate areas so the skiers can start and the ski instructors don't have to sit around forever at their tables. It would be much more efficient for everyone and make for happier skiers. The ski instructor was wonderful and really helped us learn the ropes. By the end of the lesson he brought us to the bunny hill where my boys seemed to take to skiing naturally. I will be needing another lesson. My husband who learned to ski in the mountains outside Tokyo seemed to like this place and mentioned it was nicer than Villa Olivia where he worked ski patrol back in the day.
