“Best B&B experience ever!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2005

Wow, we got lucky - had not experience with Lake Geneva area - the Chamber of Commerce recommended The Bailey House to us, and we gave it a shot.

From the initial moment we stepped into The Bailey house, to the minute we left, we were so pleased.

We needed a nice weekend of relaxation away, and that is what we got, and then some. Karen and John are the cutest couple, and just the best hosts you could ask for. Just the right amount of attention. They really enjoy what they do, and it shows.

We loved the house, the breakfasts, the rooms are very neat, romantic, clean, spacious. You can have as little interaction, or as much as you want. If you want, you can certainly just hang out in the living room, reading a book, or conversing with the other guests, who are clearly having as wonderful a stay as you are.

The breakfasts are really a treat to look forward to. Karen does a terrific job, everyone eats at 9 sharp, of course coffee/tee available from early on... And, the stories are refreshing, feels so cozy to start the day with the social breakfast hour. We all felt so much at home (there were 3 other couples), that we (to the dismay of Karen), helped clean up the table.

Anyway, we cannot wait to get back, and are already planning to come back in February, for just an absolutely peaceful/pampered weekend away in mid-winter.

You will not go wrong, can't imagine it any better!

This has been my best B&B experience ever!
Dave and Mary

My husband and I visited the Bailey House for our honeymoon at the end of September (2005). The B&B was lovely, comfortable, warm and relaxing. We stayed in the Bailey room and had a wonderful time. Karen and John were very friendly and hospitable and seemed to really enjoy running the Bailey House. And Karen made the most fantastic breakfasts! We can't wait to visit them again for a few days. Thanks Karen and John for a lovely stay.

This was our first trip to a B & B, and needless to say our expectations were exceeded! The Bailey House is absolutely wonderful; from the incredibly romantic rooms, to the delicious home cooked breakfasts, nothing disappointed us! John and Karen are gracious hosts, allowing the right amount of family atmosphere and privacy for their guests.
We stayed in the Pickney room (which is the smallest room), but it was quite large and had all the right amenities. My husband was excited to see the TV in the corner! The room was beautifully decorated, yet had a lived in feel, and made you feel right at home.
We will definitely be back again (hopefully in summer to enjoy the beautiful pool!)!
Just a note that this is not a hotel, do not expect it to be one! There is a little dog named Barney who loves to greet the guests (he is so cute!). We could not lock our door when we left our room, and our TV hummed when it was left on for more than half an hour, but those were very minor details that could not ruin the trip. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and couldn't have asked for better hosts!

Very nice house with comfortable accomodations. House and grounds were well-kept. If you are seeking a very quiet, tranquil, and laid-back atmosphere, this is your place. Room had an enormous jacuzzi and there was a nice outdoor pool. We had booked Tuesday through Thursday night and only stayed two of the three nights, and were the only guests there during our stay.

Some things that were a little less than perfect: you cannot lock the room door when you leave, toilets sometimes flush (sometimes don't), there was mold on cake in the clear glass platter both nights were were there, having to use a screw driver each and every time to unlock the room door to the patio, and if your schedule changes or one of you gets sick you are required to pay for the three nights when you have only stayed two nights.

As mentioned, ours was the only room booked (of the four available rooms) during this time frame and we were the only guests. When one of us got sick and our schedule changed, we were told that the we had to pay for our third night (even though it was only 9:50am and check-out was 11am) because guests had requested our room and had to be turned away. This seemed like a very strange business practice to us: those un-occupied rooms could have been offered to the supposed inquiring guests at the same price as the room we stayed in since all three of the other rooms were un-occupied and cost relatively the same and were equal to or nicer than the room we stayed in.

My husband and I wanted to get away for a long weekend and found the perfect spot. The Bailey House Bed and Breakfast is so much more than most B & B's. From the large rambling home to the exquisite grounds with in ground swimming pool and private areas tucked into the woods (falling asleep on the hammock is the greatest!) the Bailey House will live up to all your expectations.
All the suites are large with their own private bath, whirlpool spa and gas fireplace. Imagine the romance that can grow in a room like this!! The entire home is furnished in what I would imagine an English manor house would be like. Large comfortable floral sofas, cozy nooks to curl up and read or enjoy the first morning cup of coffee, sun rooms and a spacious dining room looking over the gardens.
The hosts Karen and John make sure all your needs are met, from helping you make plans on where to dine to suggesting all the fun activities in and around Williams Bay and Lake Geneva. The warm cookies upon arrival were a real treat! The large common living room is complete with books to read and games to play if you choose to spend a lazy day around the pool or in your room. And Barney (the dog) is a gem too!
And of course we cannot forget the wonderful breakfast! Our favorite was the french toast topped with cream and strawberries and the fresh baked goodies too!
We have stayed at many B & B's around the Midwest and can tell you the Bailey House ranks as the #1 inn in our experience. We will be going back again and again!

Hearty home-cooked breakfasts, old-world cham and even a friendly family pet are what you might expect at any good B&B. But it was the giant yellow rubber duck, Quackers, sitting on the edge of our hot tub, that made us think this might just be a one-of-a-kind place, and a special way to spend our first anniversary.

Like the giant duck, it was the details like the aromatherapy bath oils, the guest journal by the bed side, and the iced tea and cranberry-almond cookies set out for afternoon refreshment that made the Bailey House a place we will definitely revisit in the future.

I'm sure everyone who visits this friendly little B&B will return with their own unique favorites, but here were some of ours:

The Innkeepers -- Karen's voice was so warm and inviting on the phone, I was sure she would take good care of us once we were there. And she did, giving us great recommendations of where to go in Lake Geneva, good places to eat, and even making dinner reservations for her guests, while John showed us around the house, carried our suitcases to our room and made us feel quite at home in their home. Even Barney, their beagle, welcomed us at the door.

The Breakfasts -- Starting the day out with flutes of Champagne fruit salad, dessert-like French toast bakes, and the richest Eggs Bennedict I've ever tasted, we were satisfied all day, and barely hungry for dinner in the evenings. We ate at a large table sharing stories with the other guests an our hosts, and when the weather was pleasant one of the mornings we had breakfast outside by the pool.

The Room -- Despite being the smallest room at the inn the Pinckney Room where we stayed was still rather spacious and had hardwood floors, a fireplace and hot tub. Decorated in light green and pastels, and filled with pretty little knick knacks, it was very homey and comfortable. An ice bin, two champagne flutes and a guest journal sat on the small bedside table, and it was fun reading through past guest entries. Lots of anniversaries and honeymooners!

The Private Hot Tub -- All rooms have hot tubs, and our large tub was surrounded by candles, with two luxurious bath robes folded on its steps and a selection of different scented oil packs. Very romantic, and such a nice way to relax at the end of the day!

Lake Geneva -- We could have had a perfectly lovely weekend without ever leaving the B&B, but Lake Geneva had a lot to offer as well. We enjoyed looking through the unique art galleries and gift shops downtown, taking a sightseeing cruise to see the mansions lining the coast of Geneva Lake, and spending the afternoon soaking up sun and splashing in the water at one of the lake's pristine beaches.

We decided to stay at the Bailey House based on its previous TripAdvisor reviews, and I hope our experience and this review will help others discover and enjoy this friendly and romantic hideaway as well!

My husband and I wanted to get away for our tenth anniversary and just relax. Coming to the Bailey House was such an awesome retreat for us. The innkeepers, Karen and John were just like friends we had known for years. They were so helpful and hospitable. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, so we didn't know what to expect. We were so pleased with our lovely and spacious room, the neat setting, the delicious breakfasts, and what an array of activities there are to do in the area. We would wholeheartedly recommend this home. We couldn't have been more pleased.
