My husband and I stopped in to pick up a brochure as I had read so many wonderful reviews about this B. and B. We were accompanied by my guide dog. We were greeted inside the door by a woman but then a man, I assume the owner, came in behind us and said "bring your dog outside". We said we just wanted to get some information and it was a guide dog. He said "I don't care" He further stated that "this is a B. and B., not a hotel". He was concerned that we would upset his dog. We would not choose to stay in a place like this because of the attitude. There was no reason for him to be rude. The web site says The Baily House is a welcoming place but this was certainly not our experience.

We were looking for a close-to-home getaway (we live in lake county, IL) to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday and we settled on the place that most Illinois residents do in the summer...Lake Geneva. Everything thing in town was either booked or way out of our price range. Fortunately, I found The Bailey House which was just a short drive from LG. There were still plenty of great restaurants and things to do in Williams Bay and personally, I enjoyed being away from the crowds of LG. An added bonus was that they were a short walk across the street from the Yerkes Observatory (also highly recommended!). This was our first experience staying at a B&B and we weren't really sure what to expect. The house and grounds were absolutely beautiful and John and Karen were amazing hosts. The were very helpful in giving information about the area and helping with restaurant and activity reservations. Hands down, the best part of our stay was Karen's delicious breakfasts. THE BEST french toast I have EVER had! I must also say that John gave a wonderful Muffin demonstration. I won't give away the details of the demo, you'll just have to stay with them to find out :-)

We had a wonderful weekend at the Bailey House in the Bailey Room overlooking the beautiful crystal clear in-ground pool and perfect country gardens. We never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast with such luxurious living. Karen is such a fantastic cook and presents a most beautiful fulfilling breakfast to last you through to dinner, John will mesmerize you with his unbelievable muffin demonstration that you have to see to believe! Every room in their beautiful home has so many lovely personal touches, that you feel like you are inside a "House and Garden" magazine, Williams Bay beach is so clean and beautiful and so close. We happened to be there during the "Dog Day in the Bay" dog parade and contest (third weekend in June) and it was so much fun to see all the neighborhood pets right by the lake and boats. Best of all was relaxing at the end of the day in the Jacuzzi to complete a fantastic day. Karen and John are so warm and caring, that we felt as though we were visiting relatives.

My husband and I took an extended weekend away, and we are so glad we chose the Bailey House. We wanted to go to Lake Geneva, but after considering options in Lake Geneva, we found this place, which was slightly less expensive, very close to Lake Geneva shopping and restaurants, with all the peacefulness we were looking for. The tranquility of its location was perfect. Also great was stopping by the Yerkes Observatory right across the street, which had such a neat little tour on Saturday morning. The owners of the Bailey House, John and Karen, were so warm and gracious we felt like we had known them for years! They offer great conversation, and are so apt at making potentially awkward breakfast conversation with the other guests feel more comfortable and relaxing. Time spent chatting with others during breakfast often lasted at least an hour, and was a fun way to start the day. Karen makes the most decadent breakfasts, and we definitely felt spoiled and pampered. The daily cookies delivered to the room were also a huge bonus-nice treat after being out-and-about all morning! The house was beautiful, the yard is shaded and inviting, and we definitely enjoyed our stay.
