“Grandmas house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

If you remember going to Grandmas and getting a great sandwich, this will bring back good memories. They good use a little more options if they want people to frequent more often. Sandwiches, soup and Tea's would be the main attraction

“A quiet little gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

Have eaten here many times, very friendly staff/ owners. Great sandwiches and homemade soup, especially the butternut squash soup.

“A place to enjoy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

In the summer the Idle Hour has a nice little patio that you can Idle your time away in. In the winter there is usually a nice fire going in the fireplace that chase away the chills. The soups have always been homemade, hot and delicious. One of my favorites is the Tomato Florentine and the portabella mushrrom sandwich. The sandwiches are always on a good hearty bread. If you want to spend time having a good chat with a friend or love one this is the place to go. The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable.

“A Disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Our first and last stop at the Idle Hour was such a disappointment that I wrote a letter to the owners with the hope that they might take the suggestions to heart.

- At the time of our visit, there were only four other customers. We sat down at a window table and discovered that the place mats were full of crumbs and other pieces of food. Our assumption was that things would be cleaned up when our order was taken. Wrong! The waiter simply picked up one of the larger potato chip pieces and left the rest of the mess.
- My husband asked if there was a newspaper for customers. The waiter, who was dressed in sloppy shorts, replied that there was probably one in the back room. Since it was obvious he had no intention of checking on the paper, I got up to see if I could find it.
- When the sandwiches were brought to the table, we were asked if there was anything else we needed. Before we could reply, the waiter was gone. It should have been apparent that we could use forks and a napkins. As it was, we ended up sharing a napkin that had been left behind on the table by the previous guests.
- We waited for the bill to come. Eventually, the waiter came out of the kitchen area and cleared all of the dirty dishes from the three tables all at once in a precarious pile. Still no bill. Finally, we went up to the counter as a hint that we were ready to leave.

My pork sandwich was tasty as was my husband's chicken salad. However, the negative experiences took away from our enjoyment of them. Needless to say, we did not leave a tip.

“Very comfortable place to eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Great soups and sandwiches. Tasty, old fashioned comfort food. I like sitting in the front window in the winter, and on the patio in the summer. Fast service and great prices.
