“Great Ski Destination”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

One of the best ski resorts in the Midwest. Staff are very friendly and work hard to please their guests. 75 runs to ski at any level from beginner to advanced. Good array of lifts with 3 high-speed options.

Recommend you stay ANYWHERE other than Rib Mountain Inn. While its close to the resort, it's a dump and NOT worth the money!

“Great skiing in MidWest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We went with the family. I skied with my daughters, their are slopes for every type of skier. My husband went cross country skiing and liked all the different trails as well. Well kept and beautifull surroundings.

“FUN”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

This place was a great time. It is on the expensive side!!! There is a big jump from the green hills to the blue trails. The blues were iced over the first day we were there so they were more on the black side. The second day it snowed and the blues were much improved and fun! Due to the condition of the blues the first day, we did not attempt any black hills.
Be careful on the 2 person lift - we saw at least a half dozen adults and children fall off of it near the bottom. Their ski would get caught after getting on or they didn't quite get on all the way and they fell off.

“Great Skiing Escape from Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Our son (9) and daughter (7) never skied before. They took the all day snow school. The staff was excellent and extremely welcoming. The school is in the main area adjacent to the chalet. As my wife and I took advantange of our alone time, we skiied the beginners area and checked on the kids as we came down back to the chalet. We were amazed at how quickly the kids were doing neat tricks like skiing through obstacles and learning how to stop.

Our nervousness over how the kids were doing relieved, we decided to venture out to some of the other areas. My wife the daredevil loved tempting fate and enjoyed the variety of the slopes. She also seemed to enjoy me fearfully navigating slopes I had no business being on.

We came back to the kids to discover that they were now taking the lifts, and coming down the same beginner slopes we had skiied. After class, we were so impressed with the instructors, and how they had built up our kids confidence in skiing. Our kids then surprised us saying that they wanted to ski more.

We spent another three hours skiing the beginning slopes. We came back for more at the urging of our son the next day. I used the kids as an excuse to spend time on the beginner's slope. The wife happily took off to explore the other runs we were not able to tackle. She came back in time for a late afternoon hot chocolate with the kids, and another couple of hours of skiing on the beginner's slope with the kids.

The chalet can get crowded and it might be tough to find a seat. We enjoyed socializing with other skiers and their families. The outdoor fire pits were also nice.

Granite Peak will be a standard destination for this family for future skiing.

“take some tips from others”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

bathrooms were small (women's). Not enough runs open on the far right side of the hill (didn't seem like snow was an issue). Could use a ski check and another high-speed quad. Runs were pleasantly longer than other areas in WI.
