“What a ride!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We go camping often on Washington Island and most the time with multiple cars coming up. The Ferry guys are always so organized and have so far always gotten us on the same ferry. They really pack 'em in! Always a beautiful ride. We love to go up on top until it's time to unload, they get you on and off as quickly as possible. They do and excellent job!

“Enjoyable trip.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

Real nice trip to Washington Island and back to the mainland. A little pricey but a nice ride. Hope the residents of the island get yearly passes to the mainland. Would get pretty expensive if they had to pay full price otherwise.

“Nice slow ride with my car on the ferry”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

It was a short half hour trip from mainland to the island. Cost was $26 round trip for my car and $12 round trip per person. Kids under 7 travel for free. It was nice to take my car along which made my commute easier between the places on island. Washington island is one decent size island. Don't get fooled by the numbers. It's a bit of distance if you are not into walking or biking. So my suggestion take your car along with you to the island.

“July 3rd on Washington Island Wi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Don't miss a leisurely trip on the Ferry to Washington Island, Wi. Took my Rav 4 piled with sweatshirts, sun tan lotion, and hats and Dad, Grandpa, and 2 kids. Mom and I walked on the ferry.

Breezy, cool, and sunny voyage to the Island. Had great burgers and fries just south of the dock. Then, took the 2pm Cherry Train tour, a repeat for Grandpa and me. The kids LOVED it!. Stopped for ice cream, I had flan. Stopped at the historic farm where the 7 year old made ice cream and the 2 year old and I fed baby turkeys.

The kids loved trying to get the rocks back into Lake Michigan at School House beach.

Probably will make this an annual event. May try the Viking Tour next time.

“Would have given it 5 stars except,”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

The half hour trip is nice and scenic. For a motorcycle and two people the cost was $41.00. Motorcycles always get on because there is room where only bikes will fit and they put you right at the head of the line. Evidently people from Illinois think they are something special because they were cutting in line and complained that we were allowed on before them. The attendant tried explaining to them that bikes are loaded first because of the way they are parked and it made no difference and this was after THEY cut in line.
Now for the crappy part. The ferry is run by an independent company. Not associated with the island or the state of Wisconsin. EVERYONE pays the same price. The Islanders that live there year long pay the same as everyone else. There are no yearly passes. No vets, no AAA, no AARP, nothing. No wonder the owner is the 4th wealthiest person in Wisconsin!
