“Favorite Place to go for Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

I love the atmosphere! The food is WONDERFUL made fresh. My favorite dish is either the Greek Shrimp Scampi, or the Regular Shrimp Scampi!! They are delicious. If you have not eaten here I highly suggest it. There are so many wonderful options. Chris is the owner and she is absolutely amazing!!!

“Service was great, food not so much.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

Our waitress was on top of her duties, no complaints there!! Love a restaurant that offers both soup and salad. Salad was fun, little slice of green pepper, cucumber, little tomato, mushroom, croutons, and a yummy deviled egg. Soup was cauliflower cheese, blended smooth. Breadsticks are amazing. Super fresh, topped with a little garlic and Parmesan cheese. The breadsticks, alone, almost made up for the rest of the food. Almost. Escargot was rubbery and tasted freezer burnt. Ribeyes were cooked nicely but were extremely difficult to breakdown, in fact, a portion was inedible and needed to be spat in a napkin to avoid choking. Had to cut the steak in very small pieces to be able to eat. I love Tai peanut noodles. However, Silver Birch version lacked the nutty, sweet, and sour combination notorious in the traditional dish. Spice was there, however. Sauce was bizarre and noodles were topped with a bag of frozen stir-fry mix, which again tasted freezer burnt. I so wanted to like the food. Potential was certainly there!!

“The best service in town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

We always feel so welcome when we enter the doors. Everyone is very friendly and does their best to give you the best dinner service around. the food is excellent. The nightly specials are always a sure bet to choose from. Very fresh and ever so tasty. A great chef. The owners and the staff are superior. Just the very best place to go to any night you want to feel special. Thank you all for all the hard work and special service.

“Great Atmosphere - disappointed below average food for a high price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

It's been well over a year since I last visited the Silver Birch. But, Hope Springs Eternal, so I tried again when one of my friends told me that they had redone the menu. I was underwhelmed. The menu has become more diverse, offering veal scallopini and coconut battered fried shrimp. The prices are also much more expensive and the quality of the food has declined. I thing the biggest disappointment was in the presentation. The veal scallopini was thick and leathery, plopped on top of a mess of pasta and slopped with red sauce - it looked like road kill on pasta. The coconut battered friend shrimp too a long time to be served because - not a good omen - they couldn't get the batter to stick to the shrimp. Come on folks, this is the North Woods where we eat everything in fried batter, including cheese. When the shrimp finally showed up, they looked very strange, arranged in a ring on a plate with no garnish, each shrimp perched on top of a brown cube of unidentifiable food or vegetable matter.

If, after this review, you still want to subject yourself to the dubious dining experience, be advised that they don't take reservations, and there can be a very long wait on Friday Night for Fish Fry.

“Fantastic Food With A Beautiful View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Kris and her crew make you feel welcome and at home from the minute you step into the place. The seasonal decorations are fantastic and the view of Half Moon Lake from the deck is outstanding. From steaks to scallops the food is wonderful and cooked to perfection. We go to Silver Birch everytime we gwt to the Tomahawk area. This is one of our favorite resturants in the country. Prices are a little high for the area but we consider them moderate and well worth the money.
