“Better than expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

My wife and I had decided to take a road trip around Lake Michigan. Part of that trip brought us to Door County. I had explored the various reviews for B&Bs in the area, and to be honest was a little bit hesitant to try this one because it did not have a high rating in the listings, but it did have some very excellent individual reviews. I'm glad we tried it.

We showed up in the late afternoon and were met by Jane. She ended up being very helpful and friendly. She showed us our room, and it was very clean and in nice condition, contrary to what was experienced by one or two of the other reviewers. But the best part was the view of the lake from our room. Just breathtaking! We explored the beach in front of the property, and noticed that it had a fire pit. We asked Jane if it was alright if we made a fire that night, and she said no problem.

Before we went off to diner, we waited till sunset so we could experience it from the B&B. It was a very clear day, and the sunset was just beautiful. We then went off to dinner to a restaurant recommended by Jane on the other side of the peninsula. When we arrived back later that evening, we found a bag of marshmallows, matches, and a flashlight waiting for us so we could have our fire. That was very much appreciated. We later went to bed. As already stated, the accommodations were very clean and comfortable.

We awoke the next morning early enough so that we could go for a walk before breakfast. It really is a beautiful, quiet location. The B&B itself is interesting because, instead of being a converted home, it's actually a purpose-built B&B. As such, the living room is in the back of the home. This is a good idea, because that frees up the front of the house, with the view of the lake, for the bedrooms. We didn't spend much time in the living room anyway, so no lost opportunities as far as the view is concerned.

When we got back from our walk we were greeted by a delicious breakfast. In fact, my wife got Jane to give her the recipe for the croissants that she made.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable experience, and we would not hesitate to go there again. The only downside is no internet access. But to be honest with you, that's not necessarily so bad, either.

Room Tip: We were in room number 2. Although it was one of the least expensive, it was still very spacious, a...

the setting is lovely, a gracious inn on beautiful property. our room was spacious, immaculate, and well decorated. the bed and the fireplace were most welcome after a day of exploring. breakfast appeared each morning outside our door promptly at 8:00 A.M. and all this for a very reasonable price.

a special thanks to the inn's personnel for being so knowledgeable and helpful.

look at the inn's web site for excellent presentation of the property.

Room Tip: choose your room from the web site.

The previous review was pretty much spot on with our experience. Great location and we thought it was a pretty building. We enjoyed the bay view. Our bed was comfortable and the fireplace was pretty. The breakfast was very good. But the towels were worn out, no WIFI, the room was not clean when we go there and was not cleaned for the 5 days we were there other than having our beds made. There was obviously a circulation problem because it had an odor to it and we could not regulate the temperature in our room - it was mostly too hot and stuffy. A light bulb was out in the bathroom and the drain was slow. Not once were we asked how everything was and for that matter we almost never saw the innkeepers - we also had our info laying out on the front desk. You could see a dirt path in the carpets in our room and in the hallway. I would not recommend this place, although it really could be first rate. SO MUCH POTENTIAL but more TLC is definitely needed to both the upkeep of the building and the customers.

Room Tip: Lower rooms are best, no steps. Also, the upstairs is where the ice machine is located, so all of t...

Apparently, not just recently. Instead it appears to be a long time coming. It’s evident everywhere this B&B is just being ‘maintained’ until the right buyer comes along. Records show it having been on and off the market since 2007.

Undoubtedly, the location and view are currently the biggest asset of this B&B! One of the main reasons for us booking here, was most all other places were booked solid. Originally, we felt, the price seemed to be OK for services offered. BEWARE, you will most likely NOT be greeted when checking in! Even if checking in during reasonable time, most all visitors, incl. ourselves had to do so by finding an ‘open’ booking confirmation in the entry area. So if you don’t mind your name and address out there, sign in - your key is inside the door, and you are on your own. By the way, when you check out, you will NOT be asked if you enjoyed your stay.

Staff, Cassie and Jane (=The Inn Keeper) are mostly visible in the AM to serve you breakfast, clean your rooms. Cassie may be a keeper. There is no Wi-Fi, so if you bring your smart phone or tablet to research local attractions, make a diner or trolley tour reservation, you will need to weed through loads of brochures, as you will not find a phone book inside your room either. Then you must search a cell phone signal. Forget about wanting to catch up on the day’s event in the evening. Very limited selection of local channels with lots of interference.

This B&B is not suitable for visitors with small children. Seems to cater to the more mature crowd anyway. Overall quiet but you will be able to hear the walking noise and noise from people operating the hot tub above in the lower rooms. This B&B offers a perfect location to take morning and evening walks, or go off on a bike ride through scenic Door County. Yes, electrical outlets do not work proper in several rooms. Furniture are pieced together, and do not offer sufficient storage in most any room. Mattresses are very uncomfortable! Beds are made and towels are changed every day. Rooms look clean but don’t look behind the chair or bed, under the couch cushion, bathroom vent, patio, or balcony. 2x we received towels which were next to dissolving themselves from being washed so often. Really, you are in so much financial distress, you can’t afford a new set of towels for your Inn? Carpets in entry and hallways need to GO, so do carpets in several rooms. The chaise cushions on the bay chairs and patios are right out disgusting! The common gathering room and it’s contends offers no benefits. Website pictures of the bay seating area and boat ramp are outdated. No bathing possible, murky water access, crumbling boat access here and at neighbors due to low water table. Still an awesome view!

To sum it up: If you are planning to stay only 1 – 3 days, want or have to have a VERY NICE Bay view with awesome sunsets, and can get any room for $100/night or less, this may still be the spot to come. Ourselves, we made the Best of it and still had a good time. But be rest assured we will NOT be back as long as this B&B is under its current ownership. Neither will we recommend this B&B to any of our friends who are planning to head to Sturgeon Bay for a quick getaway this fall.

Room Tip: Take one of the end units up or down. The bump out allows for a larger layout of the room.

One of my best friends & I took a long week-end and went to Door County. My friend made the reservations with innkeeper Jane and they became fast friends on the phone! This property is gorgeous and Jane does it all! The flowers, the grounds, the rooms, the hot homemade breakfasts! All right in front of Lake Michigan! Amazing to walk out the back door of our room with hot coffee, sit in one of the lawn chairs and enjoy the beauty of Lake Michigan! A great girls week-end or a romantic get-a-way...fireplaces, beautifully furnished rooms, immaculately clean and hot tubs in the upstairs rooms. The hot fabulous breakfasts are included and delivered to your door! WOW! And the prices are amazingly reasonable! I've traveled alot and stayed in many places. Jane and Little Harbor Inn get an A+!! We've already made reservations for next summer!

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Little Harbor Inn, July 2,3, 2013. Absolutely wonderful! Room was great, view was awesome, and the breakfast excellent. Quiet, serene setting. Just a few feet from the lake. Sunsets were priceless!

My husband and I were looking for a nice place on the water for a 3-day getaway. The Little Harbor Inn more than met our expectations. We stayed in one of the less expensive rooms on the lower level (#3). The room was comfortable, well decorated and clean. The staff was quite helpful. The inn itself has very attractive furnishings, pictures, and a classy look. The facility itself is fairly new. We looked at 3 other rooms while there ... and they are just as pictured and also very nice. The view from each room is beautiful along with the sunsets. It is just steps to the water. But best of all is the gourmet breakfasts. They are fabulous - with an outstanding presentation. The cream cheese cherry French Toast is as good as that at the White Gull Inn in Egg Harbor. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast. ~ Susan and Frank
