My husband and I stayed at the Chantcleer for the Labor Day weekend on recommendations from Tripadvisors visitors. It was all that we had hoped for. It was a romantic, peaceful getaway from our daily lives. The setting is wonderful with beautiful gardens, a nature trail and sheep in the next yard. The room (we stayed in the Sunflower room) was large and comfortable. I enjoyed the whirlpool bath located in the room itself. We loved the balcony where we watched butterflies enjoy the flowers. I am also a swimmer and took advantage of the large pool each day. Breakfast is brought to your room in a basket. We are regular B&B visitors and we did miss the breakfast gathering with the other guests but it did make for a unique change.
Our only downside was not meeting the hosts of the house as they were on vacation. We would have liked to have questions like good places to eat etc...
Overall we loved it and hope to return.

We stayed here for our anniversary. It was a quick get away to enjoy some alone time. Darrin & Bryon have done a wonderful job on the Chanticleer. Upon arrival we were greeted by the smell of chocolate chip cookies. Our room was nicely decorated and had a lovely view of the gardens and sheep pasture. Even though all the suites were full, it was very peaceful day and night here (we rarely saw other couples). The walking trails were nice for a morning walk. Breakfast was delivered to our door at the time we specified. We had delicious warm muffins and strawberry cream.
The location of the Chanticleer is a few minutes north of downtown Sturgeon Bay. There are plenty of dining choices from fine dining to casual within minutes. There are also several wineries nearby (one could spend an afternoon of free wine-tasting).
The Chanticleer is a wonderful place to reconnect as a couple, next time we will be staying longer.

My fiance and I unfortunately booked our stay at the Chanticleer at the same time as a blizzard. It took us many additional hours to arrive. We called to forewarn the Chanticleer of our late arrival and were told it was absolutely no problem and to drive safe. When we did finally arrive we were greeted by a friendly face and warm chocolate chip cookies. We stayed in the Grand Suite and it was simply perfect. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom, especially the shower, is beyond beautiful. The Chanticleer allowed us to take our minds of the bad weather and we really ended up having a lovely trip.

  • Disliked — Honestly, I have nothing I can critize about the stay.

My partner and I have stayed at the Chanticleer several times, during nearly every season, experiencing two of the rooms (Sunflower and Grand) and three of the cabins (Evergreen, Tamarack, Hemlock). We loved every single room/cabin!!!

The rooms and cabins are tastefully decorated, the breakfasts are fabulous, and the surrounding property is spectacular. You get the privacy you want to experience the many acres of property, to enjoy the peace and quiet of a weekend away, while having access to one of the many innkeepers for advice on places to eat or things to do in Door County. If someone isn't in the main barn, simply call with the provided phone & phone number, and they'll pick up to immediately help you.

I highly, highly, highly recommend a stay at the Chanticleer (and the chocolate chip cookies they bake fresh every afternoon for everyone to enjoy). It's a wonderful experience.

I look forward to our next time up there. You will NOT regret your time at the Chanticleer.

  • Liked — Everything!!
  • Disliked — A new, larger TV would be appreciated for movie nights in the cabin.

At first we were not sure that we wanted to stay inland while in Door County. Got over that the minute we came up the drive, leaves russeling, a vintage carriage to the left and there it was the awsome barn. This has been the MOST unique experience at a B&B we have ever had. All the quite comforts in a well appointed, clean, romantic retreat with out feeling like you are in someones house with strangers sleeping in the next room. More then anything we love sitting out on the balcony of the Meadows Suite at night with a bottle of wine. Annarondack chairs and coffee welcome the morning while listing to nature (were are from the big city). Don't pass on the cookies!
