My partner and I have stayed at the Chanticleer several times, during nearly every season, experiencing two of the rooms (Sunflower and Grand) and three of the cabins (Evergreen, Tamarack, Hemlock). We loved every single room/cabin!!!

The rooms and cabins are tastefully decorated, the breakfasts are fabulous, and the surrounding property is spectacular. You get the privacy you want to experience the many acres of property, to enjoy the peace and quiet of a weekend away, while having access to one of the many innkeepers for advice on places to eat or things to do in Door County. If someone isn't in the main barn, simply call with the provided phone & phone number, and they'll pick up to immediately help you.

I highly, highly, highly recommend a stay at the Chanticleer (and the chocolate chip cookies they bake fresh every afternoon for everyone to enjoy). It's a wonderful experience.

I look forward to our next time up there. You will NOT regret your time at the Chanticleer.

  • Disliked — A new, larger TV would be appreciated for movie nights in the cabin.

At first we were not sure that we wanted to stay inland while in Door County. Got over that the minute we came up the drive, leaves russeling, a vintage carriage to the left and there it was the awsome barn. This has been the MOST unique experience at a B&B we have ever had. All the quite comforts in a well appointed, clean, romantic retreat with out feeling like you are in someones house with strangers sleeping in the next room. More then anything we love sitting out on the balcony of the Meadows Suite at night with a bottle of wine. Annarondack chairs and coffee welcome the morning while listing to nature (were are from the big city). Don't pass on the cookies!

We just returned from our vacation on Sunday. We loved this B&B. The property is so beautiful, I definatly recommend walking the trails. I can't remember the last time I heard such quiet and was able to see the stars so well.
The food was really yummy too, and the room was gorgeous!

I have been here a number of times--usually in the off season. It is very quiet and folks are left to their own devices. this is not a group gathering guest house where everyone sits around and states where they are from and what they do. this is a quiet couples place fairly centrally located. Good dining options of all price ranges are nearby. I stayed in the loft room which is very cozy. the only minus is the bed is a low platform type due to the ceiling. They only have 6 channels of TV in the main guest house--but i appreciated not watching the tube so much. Afternoon wine and cheese would be something i wish they had, but the cookies and breakfast are nice. Owners are nice and helpful and really try to stay out of the picture--leaving guests to a nice quiet romantic weekend. This is a great place to stay as long as you understand it is not going to provide entertainment--that's for you to do.

My husband and I stayed at the Chanticleer in July, 2006. We've already rebooked for our anniversary this July! The suite we stayed in was tastefully decorated . . . the bed luxurious! Breakfasts are a private affair . . . welcome if you're not interested in socializing before morning coffee! The baked goods (muffins, breakfast loaf, cookies) were outstanding, and plentiful. Be aware that the inn is somewhat off the beaten path. We spent little time in Sturgeon Bay, but were not bothered by the drive up the peninsula. It rained buckets the days we were there, but the pastoral scenery is lovely, and very well maintained. Such a treat to open the curtains and find sheep out your window! We've been at many Door County B&B's, and this is by far our favorite! Enjoy!

  • Liked — Beautiful suites!
  • Disliked — Can't think of anything . . . a few toiletries would have been nice.
