First off, this was readers theater unlike most that I've attended. The actors act as well as read. The play was "The Rainmaker" which is a great way to see some local thespian magic as the seven-member cast presented Broadway-quality drama. Stage Door's intimate theater brings the packed audience to the edge of the seats for two hours as the actors playfully and creatively tighten the spring of a solidly-crafted play. Much credit goes to James Valcq, the director and impresario at TAP, who cast the roles. Perfect choices with Amy Ensign at the center of the play as Lizzie who, surrounded by an otherwise all-male cast, is pitch perfect. Top supporting work by Chad Luberger, Mark Moede, Ryan Patrick Shaw, and Alan Kopischke.
This talented troupe deserves your support. TAP will begin 2nd season in a few months with "Glass Menagerie", "Greater Tuna", "House of Blue Leaves" and "39 Steps". This ensemble is becoming a definite stop for great theater in downtown Sturgeon Bay.
