“Top notch, talented ensemble make for magic readers theater”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

First off, this was readers theater unlike most that I've attended. The actors act as well as read. The play was "The Rainmaker" which is a great way to see some local thespian magic as the seven-member cast presented Broadway-quality drama. Stage Door's intimate theater brings the packed audience to the edge of the seats for two hours as the actors playfully and creatively tighten the spring of a solidly-crafted play. Much credit goes to James Valcq, the director and impresario at TAP, who cast the roles. Perfect choices with Amy Ensign at the center of the play as Lizzie who, surrounded by an otherwise all-male cast, is pitch perfect. Top supporting work by Chad Luberger, Mark Moede, Ryan Patrick Shaw, and Alan Kopischke.

This talented troupe deserves your support. TAP will begin 2nd season in a few months with "Glass Menagerie", "Greater Tuna", "House of Blue Leaves" and "39 Steps". This ensemble is becoming a definite stop for great theater in downtown Sturgeon Bay.

We attended several plays in the new theater this summer/fall. The talent was excellent. This is affordable theater at Broadway quality.

“STELLAR local performance venue!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

With the introduction of two people in charge who KNOW THEATRE - this venue turned the corner and is a stand-out regional music and theatre performance venue. FINALLY - the Third Avenue Playhouse is what it was envisioned to be. Whatever is playing there - DO ATTEND!

“Local playhouse on Sturgeon Bay's Main Street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

What's not to like about a little local theatre that puts on good shows and inexpensive entertainment? Two stages host a variety of shows and there are lots of dining options (from upscale to dive bars) within walking distance. If you're here for a weekend or longer, see what is playing.

“Terrific "Almost Maine" Closes First Season”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Door County is rich in arts and entertainment opportunities from big-time Peninsula Players to small troupes. None of these is more brilliant than the Studio Theater, celebrating it's first season, with the closing of "Almost Maine" last night. The theater was an all purpose dump in the back of the main theater and has been cleverly remodeled for intimate one actor shows like "Shirley Valentine" or smaller ensembles like "Almost Maine," The Subject Was Roses," Or "Sourvenir." Each one is a gem in it's own right. Thanks are due to the directors and the acting company who have made the first season great. Here's to 2013!
