“Perfect For our Needs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

My wife and I frequent Door County and stay one of two places depending on the time of year. If it's not going to be "swimming weather" we stay here.
I always book a Standard King room, and on more than one occasion was offered an upgrade upon checking in. Our latest stay was not one of these times, but we we're happy to see that the furniture in the room had just been updated.
The hotel is always quiet, the free breakfast is always good, and the staff has never been anything but friendly and helpful.
In an area that offers high end resort accommodations, the Comfort Inn stands as a great alternative to those who are looking to enjoy Sturgeon Bay and Door County, and are simply looking for a comfortable place to sleep.

Room Tip: All the Standard King rooms seem to be on the back side of the hotel.

In such a beautiful area, treat yourself to a different hotel! We stayed in this Comfort Inn only because we had rewards points to redeem, and I would rather pay for a stay somewhere else. There was no exercise room or hot tub, and the location is a long drive away from any shops or attractions.

I am not a guy who writes reviews. In fact this is my first. We were over charged and when we pointed that out repedily to the manager, to Choice Hotels and to Travel Now the third party booking service no one able to give us the previously agreed to rate for our room. We stayed at the Comfort Inn on October 15th and agreed to rent two rooms at 139.99 per room with four people in one room and 5 in the other. We booked the rooms through Travelnow.com. The Comfort in is a memeber of Choicehotels.com. My wife and I first talked to the manager he said we would get the rate we agreed on if we could give him our confermation numbers. So we singned in and called choice hotels. They gave us the confermation numbers, we went back to the manager. He now said that because we signed off on the rate we would not be able to get the discounted rate. So then we called Choice Hotels they told us it wasent their problem and we needed to call Travel Now. You have to wait forever to get someone on the phone for travel now. They called the hotel manager and asked them to give us the correct rate. The manager refused to give us the correct rate. He refused saying now that we had to many people in the room. We only had the people we previoulsy told them would be there. When I asked the manager for a cot for the 5th person they said then did not have one. We were chared 159.99 per room plus tax. The continentle breakfest was good except that the waffle maker did not work the carpeting was filthy and we found spiders in the rooms and in the pool area. Jesus tells us to be glad when someone over charges us the blessing is ours. I can tell you I am blessed.

Extremely noisy, rude staff, wrong room, unaccommodating!
Our stay here was Saturday thru Monday over Labor Day weekend.
Our room reservation was made 2 weeks in advance for a king size bed. We were put in a room with 2 queen beds. Hotel is booked so we are SOL on that one!
Around 6am began our Sunday morning wakeup call with the noise of doors SLAMMING over and over and over. You can hear every toilet and shower and kids running up and down the halls, not to mention specific conversations of the people in the halls and adjacent rooms. All while lying in bed trying to sleep.
No elevators to the 2nd floor and no staff to assist in carrying luggage up the stairs.
Breakfast the first morning: the coffee was empty, the milk containers were empty, and the eggs were gone. There were no trays to carry your food to your room because there was no place to sit in the small breakfast area and when I inquired about a tray, I was told there were trays in my room to use which meant up the stairs down the long hallway and back to breakfast area.
The 2nd morning, Labor Day, we were checking out and brought our luggage out to the car. It was 9:10am and there were only 6 people eating breakfast so room enough for us, we decided to eat before our drive off. My boyfriend returned inside to get breakfast first and I was approximately 1 minute behind him. He was making a blueberry waffle. Again, it was 9:10am. I went in and grabbed a coffee cup and was approached by a staff who sharply told me breakfast is over. I said “excuse me”? Again, she told me even sharper “breakfast ends at 9:00am on weekdays”! (this was Labor Day) I put the cup back and sat at a table. My boyfriend finished making his waffle and came to the table (of course he heard all of this as well as did the other people eating) I told him we were going to go out to eat now and to leave the food because all I was trying to do was get a cup of coffee and the same RUDE staff turned to me and said “well if all you want is a cup of coffee, you can go ahead and get that” I wanted to dump the whole pot over her head but instead we left and I will never ever ever stay there again and quite possibly never ever at a comfort inn.. so much for being priority club members!

Room Tip: I can't imagine anyplace in this area could be as bad or worse then the Comfort Inn in the Sturg...

The accomidations were very good. We did have some problems. No Elevator but the desk worker helped us carry our bags to the second floor. Our fridge was iced up, so we defrosted it ourselves. The breakfast was good but the breakfast room was fairly small. Therer was a great reastruant next to the hotel. It is easy to get around the entire area from that location.

I have stayed at countless Comfort Suites and always had a very nice room, honest clerks, super comfy beds. I booked at this facility on line about 2 months before we went and at the time it offered smoking rooms and this one was suppose to be lakeview. I have a friend who smokes and had trouble walking so I paid about $50.00 more here because they were the only motel in the area that had smoking rooms and expected to be on the lake front. We drove about 250 miles and arrived late at night. When we arrived I checked in and at that time the clerk told me there were no smoking rooms but there was a balcony. Frustrated and tired from the ride I checked in and went to the room. It was actually across the road from the lake and it faced the parking lot. By then I was more than frustrated. I went back to the desk and told the girl that I refused to stay there and asked for my money back. She told me that I couldn't and that the manager would talk to me in the morning. I insisted she contact him that night so she called him. He could care less about my complaints and said that they would still charge me if I chose to leave, which they did! We left and went only a short distance down the street on lake side and I got a beautiful 2 bedroom Suite right on the lake for less than at the Comfort Suites. I would Never Book a room on line again and have lost faith in the Comfort Suites name.

While in the area to look at a sailboat we might purchase, we felt the urge to stay a couple of days and check out the fall beauty in Door County. The Comfort Inn offered us a room with a king bed for the price of 2 doubles. It was such a quiet place, nicely decorated, great pool, with wonderful continental breakfast. The young lady at the night desk was as helpful as could be, carrying my bag to our room and checking to see if it was to our satisfaction. Later she gave us tips on area restaurants that sent us for delicious prime rib dinners.
Knowing that we would still be in Door County the following night and returning to the same hotel would be convenient, the following morning we booked the room for a 2nd night.
Highly recommend!
