5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

We stayed at the Soulitude for 4 nights & 5 days and we cherished every moment of it. From the time of booking the room you get a feel of how well the service would be. Essential information and contact numbers are passed on before your trip starts and we even got a welcome SMS from the property manager Mr. Prithvi on the day of our arrival.

We arrived at the Kathgodam railway station in the morning and took the taxi to the resort. The taxi service (Mr. Nafees) was suggested by the property owner Mr. Manish and we found it to be worth the advice as hill journeys can be troublesome especially in rainy seasons. It took us 1 hour 30 minutes to reach the property and the route via Bhimtal was picturesque and lush green. Upon arrival Mr. Prithvi greeted us and we were transferred to our room in a jiffy.

The room - Master's Touch is rightly sized for a family with a small child and the look is exactly as you see it on the internet. This room is in the main block - ground floor and has better privacy as compared to other room adjacent. It is a Junior Suite which has a projected sit-up area that overlooks Himalayas.

There are loads of things to write about the excellency of the service level. One biggest thing that made the trip great for me was the way the team had put together a surprise birthday party for me on the eve of my birthday during our stay. I could not believe the kind of preparations done and even my wife who had asked for cake and balloons before coming was taken by surprise. The team was awake till midnight and had decorated the whole dining area so beautifully that we were amazed . The cook had especially made a double deck cake for us. You could not stop thanking them for the level of sincere efforts and service the team showcases.

The best part of the trip was that it being a lean season, we had the whole staff and main block for us to enjoy as if it was our home away from home. My daughter enjoyed every nook and corner of the property and was free to be like a child. The staff especially Mr.Vinod was a great help and he made sure we had our food with ease by taking care of our naughty daughter who would run around the property finding new things every now and then.

I did not expect the food would be of such good variety and taste. We had everything from Chinese to Continental and one night we were served crackling sizzlers that were sooo good. Since we were alone, we were tempted to have our breakfasts outside in the garden overlooking the Ramgarh Valley and under the cloud filled sky. The fresh fruit juices - some of which we never had in cities (Buransh flower) were amazing to try.

Overall we enjoyed it more than we had thought and we have a firm belief that this kind of experience cannot be matched by any other hotel property. The service and the staff are the real essence of the property and you would love to come back for more just like us.

Room Tip: Bliss in comparison to other rooms is the best.

The staff was very friendly, helpful and polite. The food was simply awesome, not even once during the stay, the menu was repeated. We had everything from Italian to bbq.The little trip to the sister property was really nice and fun.I stayed in the room called the secret garden, which was large and spacious,it looked right at the small lawn and was next to the sitting and dining area. The steep road from the main gate to the parking can be a challenge if arriving with a vehicle. The overall experience was amazing, the property is defiantly the best in the region.

Believe me... Soulitude will exceed all your expectations... It's a homelike five star boutique hotel -the best hotel I have ever stayed in, no doubt. We stayed in a suite called Bliss which was HUGE in size and really nicely done with a lot of cute details. It had big windows with amazing views to the surrounding mountains. It even had a skylight so you can actually sleep in your comfortable bed under the stars.... The bathroom was also great with a barrel basin and all. Another nice thing was that there was a separate area where you can store your luggage. We also saw other rooms -and every single one of them was different from the others. But one thing in common; all of them were just great.
The whole hotel is built in a way that you really feel like arriving home. You can watch tv or dvd's or just hang around in cozy common areas and borrow books or board games.
The manager and the rest of the staff is also great. Always available and ready to make your stay perfect.
And the food... words just can't do justice to it, you need to taste it! On our last night there the hotel organized a really mouth-watering barbecue party on the terrace (instead of a normal buffet dinner). All the guests got together and I think everybody made a lot of new friends.
The hotel grows their own organic vegetables and fruits and you can roam around and actually eat plums, peaches and apricots from the trees.
The only word to describe Soulitude is AMAZING.

'One of the hottest summers in Delhi' screamed the ToI headlines in June 2012, things got so bad that even the schools extended their vacations for a week. So we did what any brain fried dilliwaala would do - packed our bags, strapped in the kids and drove out for the hills really early on a weekday. 7 hours later we were at 7000 ft above sea level turning into the quiet entrance of Soulitude in Gagar, Ramgarh. My wife actually thought the descent into the cottage was not motorable! It's just a little steep for the usual city driver.

The beauty of the cottage and hillside took our breath away, not to mention the crisp mountain air and moderate temperatures. To enumerate some of the delights of our 4 day stay - good food, barbeque on the deck one evening, wonderfully done up rooms - Master's Touch and Bliss, fresh peaches and plums from the garden, a village walk and the very hospitable staff. You don't need to carry your own books, music or movies, the library is stocked with all kinds of literature and books and magazines on travel, interiors, management, finance and the like. There's a large contemporary DVD collection sitting by the side of Video Cassettes from the old days and an IPod loaded with more songs than you'd care for!

The well decorated theme rooms have magnificent views of the Himalayas, though you do need to be lucky with the mist to get a clear sighting of the peaks. It's a good idea to leave the blinds open in the night, not only can you see the stars very bright and clear, the sunrise in the morning is great as well.

The manager Prithviraj took good care of us, he even assigned one of the young staff members to watch over our toddler as we enjoyed the meals served in the dining area. The Chef is capable and enthusiastic, served us a good range from the old delhi home cooked meal with tasty achaars and chutneys to pastas and sizzlers.

Downside - none, go for it!! We'll probably go again in the winter to experience the snow.

Room Tip: 'Bliss' has two views, one of forest, one of the hills and couple of skylights for star gaze...

Recently i visited Soulitude with my wife for a two night getaway from delhi. Usually it is my wife who writes reviews for us but this place and the experience... compelled me to post a review on Trip advisor... In a word this place is 'awesome'... The rooooms... ahhh... those roooms... Each and every one has a breathtaking view... and the attention to details would put a top 5star hotel to shame... gorgeous to say the least... the beds are comfy and the bathrooms will not disappoint even a seasoned hard nose traveler. Food is served in a common dining area and is much like home cooked food if you employ a full time chef... If god is in the details then he surely resides in soulitude... To elucidate... the day i was checking out i saw my car was being cleaned by one of the hotel staff... Initially i thought this was a special courtesy for my because i knew the owners... but then i realised that all cars belonging to guests checking out were being cleaned as matter of courtesy... now anyone with a passion for road trips understands the value of the freshly cleaned car at the beginning of a drive... Now need i say more....

a big thanks to all of the team for a wonderful time at Soulitude. We couldn't have been looked after any better. The location is wonderful, truly in the middle of nowhere and beautiful views. The staff very attentive, the rooms gorgeous (we stayed in the Master's Touch) and it really is a lovely place to go and do very little except relax. The food was very nice although we did have to ask for more Indian food but nothing is too much trouble.
The only very slight downside for us was that we were the only guests staying at the hotel and for us, the attention of the staff was a little too much. We were around a lot as my boyfriend was not feeling well but being watched while you eat can feel a little weird and I think because the staff are lovely, they don't need to try quite as hard.
